Mixtcrosoft has just released an updated version of IE7 Beta 2 (due to appear in a version of Vista this fall).

I know, Blah, Blah, Blah, Some like it, some don't. Keep it constructive. :D:D:D Sorry, nearly forgot the link.

Sorry for the alarm folks, but this is just a new release as explained four posts down.
I didn't mean to get you all excited.:thumbsdown:

PS Right now, MS is saying that Vista will not even install without a half gig of memory.
A year from now, Vista will probably need 2GB in order to run several apps seamlessly.

Edited: Caveat - If you have previously installed IE7 (like Version # 7.0.5296.0),
in order to install this version # 7.0.5335.5 - you need to uninstall the previous version - according to MS.

Sorry, I thought that the previous link was to Beta 1.
It is funny, there are subtile differences between the first one I posted and this one as installed on different nForce4s and at respectively the same times.

Everybody, just disregard this...My fubar.

OK,
These are different builds as in...
The one fron January is Version # 7.0.5296.0
The one listed today is Version # 7.0.5335.5
They are both, however, Beta twos.

Since both the links to the MS D/L site are identical, you can not get the Jan. version.
I have faithfully updated the version I got in Jan. and it still shows the first number as above.
My tests today indicate that the newer one is not as stable as the Jan. release...so beware.

I luv it. It is really good. Some websites won't work with it yet, but it is truly the best browser I have used. It has improved on Firefox. Both are good, but IE7 is faster and seems to be very secure. It also has some really nice features.

IE7 borrowed a lot from Opera and FF
Not even Opera has <CTRL - T> which for me is way more intuitive than <CTRL - N> for some reason.
My pretty MX1000 mouse will only work perfectly with IE 6 or 7, however. MouseButton backspace does not work in Opera or FF, only in IE.
And, I did spend all the money and convert everything to the MX1000 - I love it.

uuh, in for two?

allow me to speak on the behalf of others when i say:

this is the hot deals forum. you're posting to tell us not to get excited about something, and at that something that's not even really a deal.

damn man, en fuego!

seems like it falls short of a hot deals post, maybe in software discussion?

Lummox,
Don't get excited. This was way different when first posted, as you &/or all of those "others" could easily discern if you had read from left to right and top to bottom.
I actually have way more experience doing it the right way, than the wrong way, as my record on A/T shows.
When you come here with something helpful instead of criticism, I'll give you your due.

I love when newbies flame the long-timers and they get slammed.

I have been using IE7 for a while at work, and I hope they have done something with memory leak. If I do not close the browser before I leave for work forget it. I like it, but there are shortcomings (cannot print shipping labels, access certain pages, blah blah). Hopefully this is an improvement

I'm curious what you have your settings adjusted to in SetPoint, I have the mx5000 (bluetooth mx1000 laser mouse with a keyboard) and the back on the mouse works fine in Firefox at least.

I sure hope it is better than the Beta 1. I put in on my computer at work (with 2Gig of RAM) and it slowed my computer so bad, it only lasted an hour until I uninstalled it.

Did they copy opera's mouse gestures too?

[edit]: Wow 2 gigs of RAM in the future...that's not looking too bright...

The shortcomings you mention are actually coming from the person sitting at the computer. These defaults were put in place to help protect people with such shortcomings from hurting themselves and others, but can easily be reconfigured.

It's set to #8 = Back.
PS, Mine is the MX3100 as opposed to your Bluetooth rig.
I can't remember for sure but it seems to me that when I tested it in Linux, the BackSpace mouse button worked just fine (Obviously it was not tested in IE6 or 7, for that matter) - i.e.FF & Opera worked, I believe.
Wanna see if that Bluetooth works in Linux???

Ed Stroligo over at Overclockers has just posted a warning about power hungry Vista.
It's a good read although only off-topic by a factor of 2.

vista is a power hog by user choice thankfully . . .

their aeroglass feature is what makes it so hungry. basically aeroglass is a windows gui that takes full advantage of all of dx10's features. you can turn this off though and opt for an xp-ish 2d gui that's less hungry on resources.

you only need the 2gb of ram to run the higher end of the spectrum of vista features. it's not going to force everyone to upgrade to that. also, you should look at the even bigger killer that i've seen posted online for the best version of aero glass; requires 1gb of video ram, or 2 512mb cards in sli :Q
