Just 3D Printed A Chess Set

Completely unnecessary but I needed a trash can in my room with the 3D printer for all the scraps and shit. I thought I'd have some fun with it.

This is by far my longest print and took 32 hours. I set it on 30mm/sec for the outer walls because I read that slow like that is how you get the most shine out of silk PLA, and it proved true.

It does look nice, and yeah, mildly amusing to 3D print the trash can you're going to use for trash from 3D printing.
I actually have a project that could benefit from 3D printing, as I'm building a pickup for my harmonium, but instead I'm using found materials. The lid from an orange juice jug was just about the perfect size for the largest transducer shell once I used a rotary tool to cut some of it down. Then I used part of a sour cream container for the mating surface where it will mount to the instrument. It won't be visible but I painted it anyway because I wanted to.

For my next 3D printer I want the platform to be at least 1 meter long in all dimensions, because most of the games I play use meters as measurement such as the Arma and Assassin's Creed series.

Also in Minecraft all of the blocks are exactly 1 meter long in all dimensions.

Have you figured out your cost for making the phone stand? Time, materials, electricity, walking to and from the sales point, etc?

'Orca Flashforge' is the software I use and it tells you how much filament you use and how much the filament cost.

It says it cost about 50cents per phone stand.

I made this little bathroom organizer so that I don't just have my shit all over the sink like a slob.

EDIT:

Had made this for my kids a couple weeks ago so now there isn't really anything around the sink other than our 2 organizers so it's much nicer lol.

It's good that you're tracking that. The next step would be electricity, time spent setting it up and selling the item, and wear-and-tear on your printer. Good start though.

So many fun options:

Ive never used transparent filament before. Post pics of your results!

I would guess that the outer layer of the ball needs to be thin to minimize light absorption, which the inner tetrahedron can be quite thick to make it opaque.
