I got selected for jury duty and I just got employed less than 2 months ago. I called in and told them this, and the new law in NY no longer automatically excuses for employment issues. I am already afraid about losing my stability at work, and this will not help at all.

Is there any way to get out of this? I am scrared as hell since I am on a really tight budget, and cannot afford to miss any days off of work. I have been previously unemployed for a period of 2 1/2 years, and would probably kill myself if I lost this job.

The person I spoke to threatened me with a year in jail and fines if I decide not to show up.

All joking aside, I will purposefully send someone to jail just to ruin their life, or let someone who is obviously guilty go, to ruin someone else's life. I don't care.

My own life isn't worth someone else's time. :|

Tell that to the people on the jury when you stand trial.

Big freakin deal. I started work 2 weeks ago and I've got jury duty next week.
