wow that box art looks like it's from the 80s.

I won't watch it. I'm a sci-fi fan but I don't like mutant-type movies. Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, etc. Haven't been able to watch through any of them. Too bad because this plot seemed ok up to the point they went that direction.

I might see it in the theaters. Lately I've been going more than usual (which is about once every other month or so) so I may decide to pass, but I'm a big fan of sci-fi and Mila Kunis is so unbelievably fricking gorgeous so I might just say "fuck it" and throw down the $10 bucks or whatever to see it.

Looks terrible, but will watch it when it gets to netflix. (I don't think it will take too long judging by the Metacritic reviews)

It was scheduled to come out in the summer and was bumped to February. There has never, in the entire history of film, been a movie that has happened to that has been even remotely good. So I'm guessing that this will be an absolute trainwreck. It doesn't help that the Wachowski's have turned into M. Night Shamalamadingdong 2.0; make one good movie and coast forever until the public realizes that every single thing you touch turns to putrid shit. Fortunately I doubt the wife will want to drag me to this one (Channing Tatum in eyeliner notwithstanding).

Generally true, but Shutter Island was amazing and I think it got bumped twice and ended up being dumped into Jan/Feb.

I could've sworn I saw that in theaters over a Christmas weekend, but you're right, it was a February release. And, yeah, it was pretty good. OK, I amend my previous statement; there has been one single release, in the history of film, which was bumped to February and was worth half a shit. I don't see Jupiter Ascending bumping that number to two.

Oh I agree. I just wanted to bring up Shutter Island because I love it. I recently re-watched it and I think it's one of Leo's best in my opinion. Many great performances, but he is fantastic in it.

It looks great, except I wish they cast someone other than Channing Tatum. OR at least had a different look. Looks weird with blond hair and goatee, and mascara.

Reviews are bad, but they could be worse. It's got a 175mm production budget, P&A of prolly 58mm, so if this movie doesn't do well, Warner will have to take a write down. I personally am hoping/thinking that this thing can do north of 175mm in global box office, so maybe with digital sales, blue-ray, and SVOD in the future, it can break even. Doubtful though.

Spotty track record the Wachowskis:

The Matrix: Hit
The Matrix Reloaded: Hit/mixed
The Matrix Revolution: miss
V for Vendetta: Hit
Speed Racer: Miss, but I kind of enjoyed it
Cloud Atlas: Miss, but I don't understand why. Maybe it's too convoluted for Americans to follow.

Also to note, there have been plenty of movies in the past that had shitty reviews that went on to do 400-500mm in box office, so I wouldn't base everything on critic reviews.

ill prob see it, seems like a decent popcorn movie

also you cant reply on pre release critic reviews, critics almost always are 1) wrong and 2) hate SCIFI as a whole

based on the tomato meter, I will redbox.

Based on other people's completely irrelevant opinions of something I will formulate an opinion of my own taste towards that same something which I have not experienced on my own.

Mila Kunis is so unbelievably fricking gorgeous

To each their own I guess, never found her particularity gorgeous. Young and trim yes, but now she's turning into her mom at warp factor 7 (or whatever it is in Jupiter Ascending)

Lookup pictures of "Mila Kunis and mom" to see what she has in store for us...

Too busy looking at pictures of "mila kunis and Natalie Portman"

I dunno, I like the Jewish/Lebanese/Middle Eastern looks. Kunis, Bilson, Portman, etc. Good stuff. Don't care what she'll look like when she's older...I'll look like crap too.

Nostalgia Critic did Matrix Month last month, and he actually made quite a few good points as to why the original Matrix really isn't that good. I think most of us that saw it back then just like it for the crazy spectacle that it was, and it certainly was that. However, the movie is certainly really contrived and plenty of things don't really make sense. The latter movies are far worse with that, but amusingly enough, the Nostalgia Critic seemed to enjoy Matrix Reloaded more than Matrix. Albeit, he seemed enjoyed it mostly as a corny action movie rather than some deep sci-fi.

V for Vendetta: Hit

To be fair, V for Vendetta was written by the Wachowskis, but they didn't direct it. Albeit, I don't think I usually hear too many complaints about their direction capability. Their issue seems to be with stories. I guess the Wachowskis are kind of like Zack Snyder. You give them something to work with (i.e. V for Vendetta, Dawn of the Dead, 300, or Speed Racer), and they can do a decent job. However, if they create their own source material, you usually get schlock like Sucker Punch. D:

And V was based on a comic (graphic novel).

Oh yeah, same here. I think Jewish and Middle Eastern woman are the hottest on the planet, in general. So many times I'll see a really hot celebrity and sure enough if I look her up on Wikipedia, she's got some Jewish ancestry or something, haha.

Zach Snyder is doing Batman vs Superman, better hope he doesnt screw it up and keep it under 3 hours.
