Junk CD ROM drive?

creative labs 52x(40x normal, 52x with turbo button) CD-ROM drive

i dunno about transfer rates difference with the tubro button, but thats for something else
real question-
Why is it that this drive can't read majority of my CDs while my Plextor Plexwriter 8x4x32A drive can read them all just fine?

The CDs(Imation CD-R 16x 80min) are read on the CD-RW drive, but not the CD-ROM drive

I found a quick fix to this was to burn a fresh new copy of the CD and the CD-ROM drive will read it again(the CDs that weren't being read were about less than half a year old).

HD master, CD-ROM slave(the creative drive)
CD-RW master, none secondary
theres more info if that makes a difference

running win2k on athlon tbird 900mhz
512ram

after all this, i really hate creative 🙁

Where is it made?

I'm almost certain Taiwan=made by BTC, China=Top-G. They both suck big time. Almost all the generic stuff are built by Top-G and Creative is one of them.
