Jump from 5850 to 7950...but what 7950?

Hi.

I decide to change my "old" MSI TwinFrozr II 5850 to 7950 (or maybe 7970)

My final list is:
MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III OC V2 3072MB -Core: 830MHz
Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X OC 3072MB - Core: 850MHz (950MHz in BOOST)
HIS HD 7950 IceQ BOOST 3072MB - Core: 925MHz

All have - Memory Clock: 5000MHz

Price is between £260-£270.

I want to ask - do is a big difference in speed in thats cards if they have different core clocks or this is just a marketing catch 🙂 ? I don't want to OC.

and second question - I can add £30-40 and buy VTX3D HD 7970 X-Edition for VTX3D HD 7970 X-Edition - Core: 1050MHz. But do this graphic card is worth buying compare to three from list above?

Or just wait few mc for 8000 family?

GIGABYTE 990XA-UD3
FX 8120 - @4.4
Corsair Vengeance 12GB
PSu Enermax Modu82+ 525W (I know is to weak for 7950 or 7970) I also buying new PSU but this question is not here 🙂

Don't go in any of them dude.

I went into Gigabyte Windforce 7950 and it's wonderful. Everything on max. Full HD monitor. BF 3 on ultra +40FPS, no drops. I can tell it's the best graphics card in it's price range. Even has 3 coolers!

If you can afford it, MSI Lightning or Sapphire Vapor-X or something like that
 
I'm running the MSI TwinFrozrIII and I love it. It overclocks easily, is as quiet as I can ask for in a card this powerful, and stays very cool. The lightning and Saphire cards are also very good. If you don't want to overclock at all, go for the fastest clock for sure, but you're really gonna miss the best part about these cards. Hope you enjoy the new card though! They're awesome.
 
I, as a Sapphire 7950 OC (Dual-X) owner can say this, the card is great, I like it, but you will experience more problems with ATi cards than Nvidia, I think... for example, I wanted to play a game called Spiderman.. something.. I forgot, it recently came out, but with ATi cards there is some serious lag and stutter issues, on all lowest and all highest settings.

It is because the developers of the game are complete douches, of course, but this will be experienced every now and then, as Nvidia do more to keep their cards at the top.

Also you will be surprised at the beginning with the screen scaling, it simply doesn't scale automatically the picture, you have to do it manually, I have managed to get all the native resolutions scaled, but other resolutions are displayed with black borders.

Other than the driver issues, I would say coil whine is pretty bad on this card, at 100 % GPU's CPU usage and fast frame-rates like 100 and +, you will notice it, but generally when I play I don't notice it, because I am using head phones and usually playing with V-Sync on.

But if these issues were to be fixed or ignored, this card is really great, runs cool, looks cool, when you take a peak inside the computer, and performs really great, with exceptions, If you plan to play GTA IV with this card, just don't plan, I, and many others weren't able to play it, because the game cant utilize the available resources, or something like that. 😵

You should consider buying Nvidia's GTX 670, I haven't taken a deep look into it, as I found it after buying this card, but it's performance wise it's with some games a little bit worse, and better with other games. As you can see here : http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/598?vs=645
It may seem like a bad deal, but check on GTX 670, and see if it has some performance problems, and if it doesn't go with it, because you should spare 3FP/s over driver problems, like games playing like crap, without a fix.

Yukicore - no, no and one more time no🙂 I use ATI from Mach 64 🙂 I know they have problems - for example - Counter Strike G.O.
But still I believe 🙂
Smoblikat - why CPU yes, and GPU no. I think problem is in that I never need to OC graphic🙂 and last time when I OC graphic cards is changing BIOS method🙂

Thank You all for answers. My choice is MSI (or Gigabyte if I find it in good price - I know is not on my list)

But still 8000 family is sooo promising 🙂 Maybe I wait for it🙂 Im only afraid this same situation like in 5000 and 6000 family. Where 5850 is faster then 6850 🙂
