Jumbo Frames?

Hey guys just got a Gigabit switch and have some questions. I had to buy a card for one computer since it only had 10/100. I ended up getting an intel card. On my main workstation i have an internal Marvel Gigabit PCI-E card that supports 4k & 9k frames. The intel card supports 4k,9k,16k packets. I heard that the larger the frame the better. Since my marvel card does not support 16k packets i thought it would be best just to set them both at 9k. Is this the best setup or should i set the intel card to 16k?

thanks,
Ncage

There's no point in setting it to 16k if both sides don't support it, in addition to the switch. Switches don't commonly support 16k, but they do commonly support 9k these days.

You were definitly right. I found out my router only supported 9k packets
