I was wondering if enough people here would be interested in meeting at Cedar Point one day or weekend over the summer. If we plan it far enough in advance we could get group rates and possible better hotel rates for those who need it.

Update #2:
We meet at Cedar Point on Sunday July 11th.

We can meet at the Midway Carousel just after the main gate at 10:15-10:30. After a short meet and greet we can head out in to the park on your own or in small groups. I don?t think we all want to ride the same rides or see the same shows.

We can meet for lunch at 1-1:30 pm at the Midway Market. The Midway Market is a all you can buffet style restaurant and the price is very reasonable, around $12 per person I think. If you choose to pack a lunch there are a couple of pavilions near by the Midway Market. After lunch we again can head out on our own or in small groups if you like.

I thought we could meet one last time around 6:00 pm at the center of the park, near Coasters or the Sky Ride. We could break for dinner, continue going on rides, or plan a final meeting or goodbye time at this point. Since some of us might not stay until the park closes this would be a good time to say our final goodbyes or plan a later meeting time.

I'd be interested. Of course, it all depends on what my schedule looks like.;)

Depends on whether I'll be in Seattle by that time or not. I don't know what date I'm moving yet though. Probably late July.

June is a bad month. Many high schools have final trips to Cedar Point and we are pretty much unavailable the entire month. :(

My only trip to Cedar Point was awesome... Too bad it's a 15 hour drive for me otherwise I'd be there!

Do you have another date in mind. I was hoping to do it before Zenmervolt moves if he is coming.

I'd consider it. 3 hours +/- for me.

edit: although I will *NOT* bring a computer with me :)
It's nothing but roller coasters from the moment the park opens until it closes, unless there are some unique rides I've never been on before.

I would consider it as well. IIRC I can get discounted tickets through my employer. If this pans out I can check more into it.

I was planning on making a trip to Cedar Point this year anyway. I'm about 5 to 6 hours away.

Sure thing...my days are Fridays and Sundays, but I'll see what everybody else can work. If this actually works out, methinks a Detroit/suburb/surrounding area carpool is in order. Let's get a big rental van and squeeze 12 geeks in it! :D ;)

If this works out we won't need to rent a van. I have a fifteen passenger van waiting to go, and the air works too. :)
