Jugs could have been extinct...

I just had an allergic reaction to eating a Peach. I knew that I was allergic to the little hairs on Kiwi fruit, but this is a first for Peaches. After eating it, within 10 minutes I was coughing and I figured I had sucked something into my throat like dust or something. Then it started swelling... and a lump formed and started expanding in my throat. It became hard to breath... so I immediately got some Benedryl and took a few puffs from a inhaler.

I was actually to the point where I was ready to call 911 when the inhaler finally started to kick in. :Q

This is a first for me... That was kind of scary to have something happen so fast. It only took a matter of 7-8minutes from when I started coughing till I was light header from lack of air.

Amazing...

Just had my tonsils taken out less than 2 days ago. I've stayed up all night because i'm choking on fluids...and can't swallow. Probably sleep some during the day....

Anyhows, I tried drinking some water before....swallowed part of my tongue apparently, went to the floor, choking till tears came out. Then I curled up in a fetal position and moaned. Gonna take some codeine now and tell the boss I can't work Saturday.

whoa interesting...i guess it's important for someone to be around you guys all the time in case something bad happens.

Damn, thats crazy.

I eat the skin of kiwi fruit all the time.. lol

But I usually wash it pretty hard, so there aren't many hairs left.

Well it's real funny, that is the only thing I'm allergic to... no medicines or other foods. Seems to be the little hair mess with my throat.

I'm not allergic to anything, AFAIK.. heh.

See a doctor about obtaining a kit for anaphylaxis. The most common one (that I'm familiar with) is something called an Epi-Pen, which is essentially an emergency shot of epinephrine that should counteract any allergic reaction sufficiently quickly and for long enough for you to receive medical attention.

If it wasn't for medicine, natural selection would have eliminated allergies a while ago.

Thanks, I appreciate your sentiments.

I'm allergic to peanuts and I recieved an Epi-Pen. Turns out that's pretty much what they do to you at the doctor's office. The Epi-Pen hurts a bit more is all. Too bad on the peaches thing man. Eh oh well.

I'm allergic to silicone. It ruined my dreams to have D-cup man boobs some day. 😛

But seriously I can't have silicone nose pads on my glasses and the last time I used silicone sealant on my tent I was in bad shape (the spray got all over me)

Actually, not quite. The epi-pen buys you time. It doesn't solve the problem but will allow you to get to the doctor's or allow slower acting anti-histamines to work. Benedryal and an epi-pen have saved my life before. I'm allergic to nuts and milk.

At the doctor's they'll inject benedryal and also usually steroids to stop the reaction.

stick to nectarines man..otherwise no more posting for u..hmmm unless they have good connections speed from beyond

Epinephrine is an immediate, short-term solution. It's similar to adrenaline in that it causes respiratory passages to open, allowing breathing, but does not have any antihistamine effects. A cousin of mine with a nut allergy who was taken to the emergency room received cortisone shots and benadryl.
