A drawing. For an election.

That is the stupidest thing I think I have ever heard.
I agree and they should've been more creative about it. Perhaps a spelling bee, chili cook off, poem recital or talent show to help differential them.😀 They could've saved the taxpayers the cost of the election in the first place by just tossing a coin from the beginning.

They should just have them fight to the death, no weapons permitted.

Agreed. I think it should be a duel, and I'm being serious. Would be of the time that drawing lots was determined to be appropriate, and is certainly the more reasonable of the two options.

Why do you think a special election would waste less than the legal battle? Special elections aren't exactly cheap either.

No shit. Here in KY they shut down schools. It's not just state costs, it's the impact on everyone else too. Have to take a day off work or pay for a sitter for that day you weren't planning. Plus you have to go back in and vote and if you don't have favorable hours that's a a pain in the ass too. Not to mention the need to round up volunteers, get machines out of storage (if you use those) and all of the notifications and state tape required to reissue a vote. Litigation is a far less impacting choice.

Or just consider that a spoiled ballot and move on.

I think that ballot with two marks should be disqualified and she should still be the winner.

In case it hasn't been linked here is the ballot in question:

I don't see how someone discerns the intent of the voter from that. The argument is that the slash in the Democrat's bubble indicates they didn't want to vote for her and instead wanted to vote for the Republican without the slash but if that's the case why is a full X in the governor's bubble an indication they wanted to vote for him?

Big surprise, a partisan Democrat thinks the democrat should be the winner. I'm shocked.
They should hold a special election.
They had an election, the Democrat won but Republican judges voided it. It's Gore/Bush at the state level. Stealing elections, it's just something Republicans like to do.

Cheat your way to office - its the Republican way. They sure didn't miss the opportunity to dismiss those hanging chads in South Florida. I also find it amazing that they want zero accountability in the ballot process like proving the voter with a receipt of their ballot. This leaves the door open to fraud which they love.

It was clearly a win for Bush in 2000, when the Democrats and Al Gore tried to steal it the Supreme Court had to step in to keep the election fair. Keep this choice fair and hold a special election for the seat.

Ya got full on darkness in your soul. It suffocates any intelligence that tries to take and grow. You are a moron to such a degree that there is no tool with which to measure it. Seriously, you're horrible to your core. Embracing your inner and outer deplorable/stupid like a fricken champ.

I had seen the cropped version before and thought, "Yeah, looks like they intended to vote for the R". But the full version makes it confusing as to intent. Why can't people just follow the directions, it's not rocket science. That is a spoiled ballot.

While the media has focused on that one particular ballot, it wasn't the only ballot that needed to be examined and for a decision to be made on the intent of the voter. There were also other questions about ballots that may have been sent to different districts. In all fairness on an election that is so close, why not just hold a special election and get a verifiable result?
