it'll probably take a week or two for the manufactuers to wipe the dust off the extra inventory. Expect ephedra prices to be high.

Glad to hear this. My fiancee uses it to treat her seasonal allergies, oddly enough.
that is it's "purpose" in Traditional Chinese Medicine . . . not as a "energy booster"
Aspirin is more "dangerous" than Ephedra![]()

The stuff really helped her where none of the OTC drugs would. I need to e-mail her to let her know, if she hasn't heard about it already.

I found it interesting they classify ephedra as a food, not a drug.
Judge Tena Campbell agreed, saying federal law places more restrictive rules on the FDA in determining whether to ban foods as opposed to drugs. The judge said the law requires the FDA to prove that a dietary supplement is harmful, rather than having the manufacturer prove it is safe, as is required with drugs.
But was it really "commonsense", or just pandering to their local constituencies? That's probably a good question.Originally posted by: AndrewR
Wow, some commonsense in the judiciary on an inflammatory issue? I'm shocked!

Well, yes, it's a naturally-occurring plant-based substance, is it not?
Maybe the courts will strike down certain hemp-based plants too, from being banned. (Many argue that the original ban was likewise unlawful in a similar fashion.) IMHO, "weed" never killed anyone, although overuse sure makes some people stupid. (It could be argued either way, in that it was the overuse, rather than the substance used, that had that eventual effect. I'm a bit undecided on that matter personally, having seen both acquaintances that use, and seem to maintain a healthy and productive lifestyle, and those that abuse, and live a somewhat pathetic life. Then again, it could be argued that they would have the pathetic life regardless, and that they simply overuse, as a crutch, and if not that, then something else as a crutch. At least it doesn't rot your liver, and cause you to risk killing someone while driving.)
Then again, "coke" is a naturally-occurring plant-based substance too. So I dunno. (Isn't ephedra somehow distantly-related to the substances in "coke" too? I'm no organic-chem major.)

So what, you can still purchase Ephedrine HCL in 25mg pillsOriginally posted by: apoppin
Anyway, don't expect to see Ephedra on sale in the USA anytime soon - if ever.

I can walk right around the corner and buy a bottle of it for $5 for a local convenience store if I wanted too, at least here is Boston.Originally posted by: Nimloth

Speaking of which, apparently there are laws (depending on where you are) about purchasing Ephedrine...I was at my local Sam's club and found it weird that they didn't have certain drugs (like sudafed) but had everything else, except anything containing Ephedrine was limited to some count. I guess they didn't want people buying a ton of it?
I was thinking that maybe there was some illicit use for them, but maybe it was just part of the general ban.

Really? I'm just short of going in to see an Allergy Specialist, because Allegra, Tylenol Allergy, etc don't get the job done. What kind of allergies does it help?
