How so? And how many computers? I've got 6 right now and piles and piles of parts new and old. Is that all fair game?

Not only will they take your computers & laptops, they will take all devices that contain flash memory like cameras, phones & usb drives. And even if you are acquitted, good luck getting all that back.

edit: It would also make sense if they snatched your router to determine if it was secured or not.

If they have evidence that your IP address has illegally downloaded movies, then I have zero problem with them seizing all 6 of your computers with a warrant. If you're innocent, because you're too friggin stupid to learn how to put a password on your router, then let that be a lesson to you that you need to update your skills, sorry for the inconvenience.

( Seriously, I have no problem seeing people's lives get ruined because of their entitlement attitude.)

FTW It is scary how often I agree with the good doctor. There is no grey area here, none whatso ever.

Yes I believe you should be able to legally back up movies and music to a HDD.
No you should not trade download or upload any movie or music that is not properly paid.

I got caught 7 years sharing over Limewire and received a letter from the Small Business Assc. Software. It said stop or face legal action. I thought I was hurting no one but how in the hell could I teach my son right from wrong and then explain to him I was going to court and possibly jail for downloading movies.

It does not work like that. I was wrong and I stopped right then and there.
You cannot tell your child that stealing is wrong and then wind up in court doing it.

(But, I'm surrrrre you didn't download these things illegally. Seriously, I have no problem seeing people's lives get ruined because of their entitlement attitude.)

Feel better now?

So this would only effect people who are breaking the law, seems like a no brainer to me. If you break the law, you should be prepared to pay the price.

What about content that's not available on DVD and not showing on TV?

alot of piraters justify their stealing with this...in the end if one was only picking a few unavailable and obscure older show/films I doubt they'd care.

Many seem to think grabbing a new release not quite on DVD falls under this category.
