Judge orders teen to remove sound system from truck

It's well within the court's right to order such a thing.
Locally: dog barking - 1st time, fine. 2nd time, bigger fine. 3rd time, ordered to have dog removed from premises or it will be destroyed.
Someone has a mess in their yard/garbage all over - court orders it cleaned up.
Failure to comply by whatever date they give = contempt = back to court again.

And, personally, I'm just as happy with them cracking down on the excessive noise. In my old neighborhood, it really had an impact on quality of life. You'd be trying to watch tv inside your house (with the windows and doors closed) and you're interupted by boom boom boom boom as a car goes by. You'd be trying to sleep... boom boom boom boom as a car goes by. Go ahead... steal the tv from my house. Thefts like that don't happen that often. Insurance will cover it, but it's an inconvenience... one that happens to most people once or just a few times in their lives. Get disturbed by excessively loud noise - inconvenience that many of us experience daily. Although some of you don't seem to mind being disturbed daily, perhaps because you feel it's also your right to disturb others with your stereos, I personally feel quite infringed upon when fvcktards have the bass cranked up and their crappy cars are rattling.

I don't care about someone speeding because it doesn't affect me (assuming he/she doesn't crash into me).. loud noises in my vicinity do!

I have a loud stereo in my car and you would definitely hear it in your house if I drove by at any considerable volume, but I don't. I will crank it on the highway, but even in town I turn it down. Basically if I'm not traveling interstate speeds, I have the volume down.

All it takes is a little maturity and consideration. Hopefully this little punk understands that a little better now.

exactly. i like my music loud and i like to have bass. but nobody else should be forced to listen to what i am listening to. i only play it loud when i am on the highway or freeway. if i am even close to a house i turn it down

Depending on the sound level, I believe this is a "real crime" that has gone unpunished long enough. Obviously many people like to listen to music loudly, but most of us consider loud music to be something that is loud to us, not something that is loud to someone down the block in their house. If your system shakes windows as it goes by houses, you are not impressing anyone and I hope the same sentence happens to you. People that do this arn't doing it for the sake of music, they are doing it to get attention.

They just passed a new set of Laws on this in Louisiana.

They can confiscate the equipment and not give it back.

First Offense is automatic 30 day License suspension.

Second Offense is automatic 6 month License suspension

Third Offense is automatic Jail time and Community Service hours in addition to having equipment confiscated.

Bullshyte. I listen to my music loud enough to hear it inside people's homes, as I stated earlier. It's not to impress anyone. It's because I like to listen to music loud, whether it's in my car or in my home. I also play music loud. Music sounds better louder provided it's a clean sound.

I guess rock concerts are loud to "impress" people and get attention....not because the fans like it that way.

Thats a different situation, blatantly creating a public disturbance when you are parked they should be held to the same standards as someone a having a party, but i could care less how loud someones music is while they are driving. Like if you cant deal with bass coming from a car while at a stop light you have your own issues you need to work through.

Overly loud music on public roads is a safety issue, and people have a right to NOT hear someone else's noise.
