Judge: Listerine not same as flossing

NEW YORK (AP) -- An advertising campaign that says the mouthwash Listerine is as effective as floss at fighting tooth and gum decay is false and misleading and poses a public health risk, a judge has ruled.

I beleive Bic sued Gillete a few years back because Gillete claimed their shave was "the best a man can get" When in fact, Bic proved in court thier razors were sharper.

Pfizer in print ads had featured a Listerine bottle balanced equally on a scale opposite a floss container with the words: "Listerine antiseptic is clinically proven to be as effective as floss at reducing plaque and gingivitis between the teeth."

The judge said "substantial evidence" demonstrates that flossing is important in reducing tooth decay and gum disease and that it cannot be replaced by rinsing with a mouthwash.

am i the only one who doesn't see a problem here? reducing plaque and gingivitis != reducing tooth decay and gum disease

Hehehe I dont know if some of you have seen this commerical from I believe Ditech mortage loans. But they have a commercial with a husband and wife. They are putting their credit cards into a sling. The next thing you see is the husband saying fire and the wife lets the credit cards fly. The husband shoots them in the air with the gun and says "There we go, no more debt".

I got a good laugh out of it. As if shooting your credit cards will erase your debt. But then I wondered how many idiots out there would try to use that as a defense lol
