Man I never thought some stupid TV judge who probably does single digits in the ratings gets 30 million a year! 🙁 I'm in the wrong field.

"Abstract: In a deal believed to be worth $30 million-$35 million annually, Paramount Domestic Television Thursday extended Judge Judy's term on the bench for another four years through the 2009-2010 season."

Not so stupid, eh?

Is she a judge for life or something? I thought Judges were elected by local elections. Or is the show just make believe and she isn't really a judge?

Whoa, I would've never guessed that much for a show during noon time. I wonder how much the other tv judges make.

Indeed.

'People' may think he/she is but COME ON how 'lucky' can a 'stupid' person be to make that kind of money? That person has to have some serious popularity/ money drawing powers.

I think the judge shows have a huge target audience, the same ones that watch Jerry Springer, Ricki Lake, etc

She was a family court judge and started out as a prosecutor. According to the piece on her on 60 Minutes and everything I have read she was pretty much the same in real court as she is on her TV show.

judge judy gives a nice little description... including some pretty astound facts that will show you were this money is coming from

The facts

* This show is BIG, so much so that in its third year it finished No. 1 amongst the first-run talk or court shows, which means it beat "The Jerry Springer Show" and "Oprah". That's an average of over 8,000,000 viewers.
