Server Error
The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

JRun closed connection.

I herad it's real cool to get these errors every 5 minutes or so.

This is a coldfusion bug, which we are going to try and debug and send off a report to Macromedia.

What version of coldfusion are the boards running on? We've never really encountered any problems like these... I've just brought our server completely down by running a loop over a query that turned out to execute the query about 35k times 😉

BTW, where do you get the error? Is it random? or same place?

Thanks!

It seems fairly random and usually just when I'm trying to open a thread in OT.

I get it too, seemingly random, I'll see if I can spot some kind of pattern.

As for JRun...just thinking about it makes me lose sleep.
Maybe it's improved, haven't had to deal with it in 3 years or so, but back then...what an absolutely horrible piece of software...

btw i've only gotten it maybe twice since the upgrade, and i've been using (the forums! the forums!) pretty heavily lately.

I get it randomly as well. I'll be browsing the forums and I click on a link and nothing comes up for a minute and I get the JRun error. Happens both at work and at home, both using IE6

Sounds like a SQL server issue with licenses and Cold Fusion server not releasing the connections in a timely manner.
We had it at work on a CF server using a 10 seat SQL server license. There is a patch for it if thats the case...

I got the error a couple of times this morning.

I know ColdFusion MX was just horrid. The Unix work-a-rounds were a PITA since they BROKE their FIX.

Last time I setup jrun on a Unix machine it was a pain too.

Personally I'd like Macromedia to just give up.

Yep, if Macromedia vanished, we'd get a load of birds with one bigass stone. 😀

I get it randomly also. It was really bad right after you upgraded to the new version, but now I only see rare occurrances.

dito happend twice today though.

It has nothing to do with licensing, it's a jrun iis connector issue somewhere.

Its not that the licensing is bad, its the fact that CF doesn't release the connection in a timely manner. With only a 10 seat license we should be able to easily serve up a few dozen simultaneous users since none of them use sustained connections.

And its KNOWN by the maker of CF, but you have to bug the hell out of them to give you the workaround. You just might want to put some pressure on them to give it up.

I got it twice about an hour ago trying to bring up user profiles.

Also, clicking on any of the javascript-driven popup links before a page is COMPLETELY loaded causes Mozilla to beep.

I got bored.

Back to the thread: I haven't gotten any tonight, but I got them this morning. I guess that was before the fix. It seems to be more a problem in the morning (~8-9am EST). Hopefully the fix fixed it. 😛

MadRat, if you are talking about the connection pooling hotfix, we are already running that and the latest JDBC drivers from their hotfix.
