They sell many computer parts and games...
If you know how to mod these, you can buy the Japanese versions and mod them to play all region games/dvds.
pretty good prices...

...they used to be in JapanCenter/JPN Town SF...but they moved.

So true. The same goes for Europe; every time I go to visit my family in the old country I spend considerable time in electronic stores druling over all the cool stuff they sell. We are lucky to see any of it here in the states a year later, if ever.

Look 2 messages above you and you can see the information about modding the PS2 AND what the chip does, which is "play US Originals or backup discs"

I don't know how you could have missed that, I mean, it's not that hard to read a 3 message thread.

Anyway, there COULD be a way to miss that, and that is to scroll all the way down with your monitor turned off.

But, yeah... please be more attentive next time, or you're just trying to achieve platinum status? 😉

These guys always run commercials in the Bay Area on the local international channel. They've been around for a long time.

Went to the one in Manhattan. The sell lots of cool stuff imported from Japan, like computers, notebooks, PDAs, Digicams etc etc. One of the coolest things they sell are cool optical mices for Laptops which are way way better than the ones sold in the US market, and high quality silver braided, rounded IDE, Flpy & SCSI cables manufactured in Japan, plus other overclocking gear you've only heard of.

But most importantly, the $199 Japanese SCPH-30000 version PS2 is in stock! Original JP PS2 import games $59 each

This place is located right across the street from 5 Av Compusa. Can be a challenge for some people though since they speak very little English, and most specs and descriptions are posted in Japanese. The cashier lady was surprised how I found the shop since I wasn't Japanese. Thanks to slycat or I would have never found this place.
