I don't normally listen to them, but I have Don't stop believin' stuck in my head. Oh, and Separate Ways is cool too.

Steve Perry was born in raised until high school in my home town. He went to the same college I did for a brief time as well.

:music: Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train
Goin' anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train
Goin' anywhere :music:

Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

(chorus)

Dont stop believin
Hold on to the feelin
Streetlight people

The best.

Wheel in the Sky.
Drum and Bass solos on La Do Da live.

Neil Schon played guitar for Carlos Santana when he was 16.

Journey is one of my favorite groups but I just got rick rolled and cannot get that tune out of my head. Imagine trying to read the lyrics above while "never going to give you up" is going through your head. Rick Astley > Journey. 🙁

Must admit I enjoy their sound. The enitre Escape album was good, other favs are Girl Can't Help It, Separate Ways, Loving/Touching/Squeezing, Lights, Be Good To Yourself, Any Way You Want It, Who's Crying Now, Faithfully, Wheel In The Sky, etc....

Journey - Feeling That Way/Anytime

Journey - Stone In Love

Those crazy nights, I do remember in my youth
I do recall, those were the best times, most of all

In the heat with a blue jean girl
Burnin' love comes once in a lifetime
She found me singing by the rail road track
Took me home, we danced by moonlight

Those summer nights are callin',
stone in love
Can't help myself I'm fallin'
stone in love

Old dusty roads, led to the river
Runnin' slow
She pulled me down, and in clover
We'd go 'round

In the heat with a blue jean girl
Burnin' love comes once in a lifetime
Oo the memories never fade away
Golden girl, I'll keep you forever.

CHORUS

I was never much of a Journey fan, (ok music, just not my style) but one of the fellows I go to college with is. He suffered a MAJOR brain tumor and almost died. Someone posted a story about it on one of the Journey websites, and he and his wife got invited to tour with the band a couple of years ago. (after he was recovered from the surgery and stable enough to travel) I have to give them a big  for that.

I have the distinct pleasure of having "come up through the ranks" with them.
First, with their lighting and video production company, where I was a bench tech from 1983 through 1989 and then again working with Neal Schon from 1993 until 2002.
I worked with Steve Perry and the band during the songwriting sessions for the reunion record "trial By Fire", recording everythjing said and played and keeping extensive logs as to songdevelopment , changes, etc.
My last stint had me rebuilding / upgrading the old rehersal studio into a recording facility, teching for Neal, and then crew manager and guitar / bass tech for Ross and Jon.
Finally, I was instrumental in building their journeyswag.com site / shopping cart, prior to burning out and retiring from Entertainment / Show business
Their charitable nature is real, not a publicity stunt.
We did many hospital visits as well as having kids come to soundcheck and stuff like that.

Artist: Journey
Song: Open arms
Album: The Ballade

:heart:Lying beside you.
Here in the dark
Feeling your heart beat
With mine
Softly you whisper
You're so sincere
How could our love
Be so blind

We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are by my side

So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

Living without you
Living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home

But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay
So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms :music:

That folks, is probably one of the best love songs of all time. :sun:

In liked them until that fegula Steve Perry became their lead singer and turned them into a Nancy Pop Band. That said for them it was a good move as it made them a very successful Pop Band and probably rich though I hear they are now playing the County Fair Circuit.

Yeah, but for some reason women swoon for Perry's voice and that music in my car, at an appropriate time, has gotten me laid on more than one occasion. Eh, well, back in the day, anyway. 😉

No doubt if they stuck with Greg Rollie as their lead singer they wouldn't have been anywhere near as successful as they ended up. I went back and listened to their album Kahotek (sp) and while it was good for the time it was really dated and wouldn't be considered a classic where as most of the Perry fronted albums are considered classics.
