I was curious if anyone has gone to see them on this current tour. I picked up tickets last night for the show here in Charlotte, NC 7th row, I am pretty excited. Has anyone seen either of them live before, if so how was the show?

Dunno, they were in Atlanta last night. Phil Collin is a PETA rep now. :D Expect him to speak on eating animals and such.

I'm going to the Sunday night show in Nashville, The reviews with JSS singing lead are all good, so I'm looking forward to it. I have seen them many times before, you won't be dissapointed! I also saw DL back in their heyday in the 80's they too were good.

Journey can only be better without that Nancyboy Steve Perry at vocals.

I am very excited about JSS being at the helm, I love the guys voice, and from what I have read he is not toying around with the songs but really nailing the high notes etc...I am however kind of worried about Def Leppard, I love their heavily doctored studio stuff, but the live stuff they have released, to me sounds bleh,

After this, then I have lined up...

3 Doors Down/ Lynard Skynard show,
Gary Hoey
Shinedown/Rob Zombie/Godsmack
Motley Crue/Aerosmith

I like your your list, I wish I could see Zombie, I did see the Crue in Huntsville a couple months back, now that was an incredible show.

I saw Def Leppard last year in Eastlake, OH and they were very good. I also saw them many times in the 80's/90's. The only problem was that Joe Elliot was not hitting the high notes. The cool thing (I guess) is that the rest of the band would 'help' him hit the highs. Wasn't perfect, but effective. Vivian Campbell was excellent and Phil Collen actually surprised me. The last time I saw him, he sucked BAD. I guess 10 plus years of practice does a body good.

I was contemplating seeing Journey/Def Leppard in September but my main worry was the new singer for Journey. As 'Nancyboy' as Steve Perry is/was, he is the defining sound of Journey. He has a very unique voice that would seem to be hard to copy and there would be no 'middle ground'....an immitator would either be 'good' or 'very bad' IMO.

Oh yeah....as far as how they sound vs. their studio sound of the Hysteria/Euphoria era, they pretty much nail it down. I was really surprised by how well they sounded overall.

I went to see Journey during their Generations tour last year. I wil tell you that with Steve A. singing it was very impressive. I have also seen Journey in their heyday back during the Frontiers tour. Bryan Adams was opening for them when I went. That concert was very good.

I do not know anything about the singer they have now. I have been contemplating wether to shell out alot fo money to see DL and Journey together. They are coming to the Buffalo area in September.

The bigger percentage of their songs might be considered by some to be "Love Songs"
but they do have a great stage presence and both times I have gone to their concert the
crowd has become very active, more so than other concerts I have been to.

I'm still debating on whether or not I want to go to that show. I'm sure it will be pretty good and I love the Starwood venue.

JSS isn?t a Steve A. or Steve P. copycat but he has an amazing range, of course I haven?t heard him with Journey live yet but I do have most of his other stuff on CD, whether it is solo, with Soul Sirkus or with Talisman the guy can freaking sing, there are some sound sample of Journey songs he did with Soul Sirkus going around, also here is video clip of him with Journey at the Tampa show the other night, after you see this I think you can say he will fit in nicely.

Those two bands bring back nightmares of being in 7th/8th grade. *shudder* I have to turn off the radio when they come on.

I went to Def Leppard a couple of years ago. Music was OK. Bare bones stage set up. I think it was called the Def Leppard Retirement Fund Tour.

My daughter LOVES "Pour Some Sugar On Me"

However, knowing what that song is about, I cringe when she listens to it. I figure if she doesn't know, she's still innocent :)

I saw Journey 27 years ago. They were great. If I remember correctly, The Baby's opened for them. Never seen Def Leopard before but I have met them. They stayed at a Hotel I worked at in Okalhoma City, also many years ago.

even though they changed names awhile back, all of the signs around Fair Park still say Starplex.

I was at the show last night as well...can't believe it was sold out....haven't seen the lawn seating area that full in awhile...

I knew we were kindred spirits, down deep somewhere.

I'm wondering what opinions are on the Journey-Vanilli Scandal aka "Tape -Gate" ?
