If you wanted to post this in politics, why didn't you let it die after no one replied and just reposted it in politics? Why did you feel the need to bump up a topic twice no one cared about?

Geeze.

McCain definitely sold out to the dark side. No votes for him. Although I appreciate his work on campaign finance that so many Republicans oppose.

Hopefully by that time the pendulum will have swung back away from the neocon right.

McCain has said he would not run.

Hillary would not run but, if she did, she'd lose horribly.

I think McCain is doing the good soldier bit and will consider running in 2008 if GWB were to win (god help us). I do believe that he did consider a fusion unity ticket with Kerry but probably felt he has a better shot by not burning any bridges.
He would be however, 72 years old if here were to run and win in 2008.
born Aug 29. 1936
Also interesting to me is that he was born in a naval hospital in the Panama Canal Zone.
Do the natural born citizen rule for presidency extend to naval hospitals aboard? I would imagine it may as in embassies aboard but I would imagine no one has challenged this.

Anyway, Giuliani and Pataki are definitely interested. Giuliani, Pataki Appearances S...Presidential Ambitions

I will bet heavy money that Republicans will not in the near future nominate a pro-choice, pro-gay rights candidate like Rudy or Pataki. no way no day.

I'd vote for Rudy over McCain.

Actually, right about now I think I'd rake Rudy over just about anyone. Too bad Arnold cant run :)

There are 5 people who I think could run for president in 08.

Arnold = I know hes foreign born but maybe the GOP can shake things up a bit?
Hillary = she almost ran for prez. this year, but i think she'll definately go for it in 08
Al Gore = you know hes pissed right now, seeing Bush's face on the tv everyday, Im sure hes thinking about running
Giuliani = sure he ran the worlds best city for 8 years, but I think his eyes are on running the worlds best country
John Kerry = i know i sound really off the wall, but when Kerry loses this november, he'll be weighing his options for 08

Gore and Kerry are both out, once you lose an election, no major party will nominate you again.

McCain over Rudy; Hilary over none, and possibly the mokney over Bush ;) And for Powell I would have to think long and hard before I would vote for him, because even though he did his job as a soldier...he is supposed to be the Secretary of State, not a soldier.

He's a good guy, i'm disappointed he hasn't taken a harder line than he has with bush. He has far more power than he thinks. It is my opinion that the man is getting up there in age and i think age is important when i comes to politics.

It requires tons of time and energy. envigorating voters, especially the younger passive ones is tough to do at such an old age. You need a person who has experience, relatively youthful, good message and well spoken. Clinton is a good example. Bush the first couple when he made his run.

I'd like to see more choices. The current republican party is utterly disgusting but their original priciples are important. I'd like to see a new face with new ideas, one can hope as it seems the religious right has taken it over.

As for the dems, they NEED an electable candidate...i was a big fan of edwards. I'd like to see Kerry do a term and hand it down to Edwards. Or Edwards to make up for Kerry's lameless in this campagin and make a run in 2008.

People want someone they can relate to and understand them. Someone who they feel will help them. Edwards portrays this theme. Not only what he has done but will do. Also he doesnt have the croneyism that kerry and bush seem to have.

I somehow don't see that happening........

Among internal GOP polls 48% of Republicans would support a Guiliani candidacy.

No. He sold out. I would have voted for him in 2000. Ditto for Colin Powell.

To an extent, I'd still consider McCain. Powell screwed himself over, but he was a good soldier - held the line for his boss.

Weren't Bush's ops calling people in the south during 2000 primary asking if they heard about McCain's black child out of wedlock, when it was actually an adopted Bangladeshi child? If Bush still gets McCain's endorsement after that, what exactly would it take to for him to not endorse Bush?

Bush supporters. They have never been linked directly to Bush.

Some of you people need to shut up about McCain selling out.

He is a HARDCORE conservative, with the exception of a few instances. Hes known as maverick because of those few instances but he did not sell out, because he is as he has always been. The hawkish, socially/fiscally conservative republican who ocassionally takes on a pet issue.

McCain IS a sellout. Bush smeared him in 2000 and McCain doesn't have the guts or the balls to not sell out to Bush in 2004.

Ya, Gore and Kerry are out.

They will never change the Constitution for Arnold.

McCain will win the primaries. I don't know who the Dems will run, hopefully some Governor like Vilsack. Senators never run well.

Could have been worse. He could have sold out to that uninspiring stick in the mud sure to lose this election because he comes off as weak John "I wish I were a Kennedy" Kerry. McCain's a Conservative and a Republican. As a conservative and a Republican of course he's going to campaign for his parties candidate. That said it doesn't seem to me that his heart is really in it.

Or it could have been better and he could have just stayed quiet. He still has a hatchet in his back. He's a shmuck.

Well at least according to you. I'll take your opinion for what it's worth.

NO. I wouldn't vote for him and I think he's past his prime. He'd be akin to bob dole running again. It might be his turn but he's not the best candidate.

I fully expect Hillary to declare on November 4th, perhaps waiting until Kerry concedes before she announces, maybe not.

I think that Guiliani would be a good (R) to battle the senator from NY.

I'd vote for him depite his social leftisms.

it depends on whether or not kerry wins this election.
why?

if kerry wins, hillary likely wont be running against the incumbent. but, i guess that would also depend on how kerry does during his presidency, if he's elected.

I doubt that McCain is the poster boy for the Republican party. And can someone please rationally explain to me why there is so much hate directed towards Ms Clinton.
