Makes you wonder what other supposedly passed bills that are still being adjusted?

This just proves how the GQP is full of shit about supporting veterans.

I'm a retired Army veteran and I cannot tell you how often I see phony fucking conservatives trying to use ME as a false dichotomy between immigrants and veterans when they consistently vote AGAINST our benefits and healthcare any-fucking-how.

Watch: Jon Stewart uncorks profane rant after GOP senators block veterans benefits bill (msn.com)

You may not like his politics but regardless of party HE IS SPOT ON here.

Prove me wrong.

This is way better than workers' comp.

For veterans who served post-9/11, 41 percent, or 1.7 million, reported a service-connected disability in August 2018, and nearly half of those had a service-connected disability of 60 percent or more, BLS said.

Still pisses me off how McCain tried bragging about how often he visited the VA hospital down here, then tried to lay all the blame squarely on Obama when problems with the treatment there was revealed. And he was one of the few that even bothered to do real lip service (most of the rest just tweet about ohmygawd why didn't Kamala thank the troops! and other stupid shit whilst they themselves don't even do that or even fuck off to Russia during the 4th of July).

Hypocrisy is integral to right wingers' world view. Its like their brains got fucked up in a weirdly specific way that makes them have to be that way.

Um, so you think it's a con?

I'm wondering if you can read that article and understand what it says.

The percentage is higher because of 3 factors: More NEARLY CONTINUOUS combat post 9/11 (biggest factor by far). Higher survivability by combat wounded. And better recognition of PTSD.

If you're trying to imply that VA disability is being conned or too easy to get, you have no, and I mean NO FUCKING idea what you're talking about.

Combat service is the highest risk job possible. So of course a significant number of veterans are going to have partial or full disability.

BTW,. the vast majority are 30% or less, which means NO BENEFITS. Less than half are 60% or higher.

I watched the whole speech, you can tell how emotional and pissed off he is. At one point, you can see him holding his phone and how his hand is shaking uncontrollably. That's not something you could just fake, shows you how much he actually cares.

Reminds me of his episodes (when he stil hosted TDS) about the 9/11 responders bills being held up/limited by the GOP.

I like his politics and you're a fucking idiot if you think this doesn't perfectly align with the rest of his politics. So if you like this but think you hate his politics you're pretty dumb.
Where did that come from? I said others may not like his politics.

Yes, the wounded/killed ratio for US troops in Iraq was over 7:1, which is more than double the roughly 3:1 ratio in Vietnam. I suspect a lot of wounded qualify for disability to some extent so these results are not surprising.

One of the reasons for this was due to quick live-saving medical attention. While all should qualify, some are actually denied. It's a shame. A terrible shame.

Billions for tax cuts, not much for our Veterans.

Might that difference owe something to changes in the nature of "battlefield medicine"? Maybe in Iraq they were more successful in keeping the wounded alive?

Also they were very different wars in other ways - were roadside IEDs a major issue in Vietnam?

I think none of those that voted against this bill have ever served, correct?

....which I assume is also true for the vast majority of the vocal military-taint-licking supporters of these same GQP congressfucks?

Looks like they wanted to remove $400B of Democrat pork from the bill and scumbag Schumer tried to use sick vets as political pawns. As much as Congress over indexes on pork in bills, the useful idiots on this board under index on research and truth.
