temping, ive used tomtoms extensively in europe (over 2 months of traveling) and they work pretty well but i've never used one here in the states. ive heard that they dont work quite as well in the US tho. might want to keep that in mind, but the price is right. i have no xp with garmin or magellan, but i'll probably look for a garmin or magellan for my personal use based on what friends have told me. these might make great xmas gifts for someone else tho 🙂

we have a garmin nuvi and my father has a magellan. honestly I can't stand the layout of the magellan, and can't imagine using anything besides the garmin products. they are that good.

i have this, shit crashes near JFK airport and i have to resort to road signs. Get a different model.

edit: also crashed when trying to recalculate to avoid toll road yesterday.

I've had this model for about 1.5 years and it works great. We only use it occasionally, but it does the job and for $60 I think it's a great deal.

Sounds like you may have a defective unit, or map corruption in the area of JFK airport. I've had this model for 1.5 years and it's never crashed, and I've been to JFK several times.

I've had two Tomtom's, this model and a go510, they both crashed a lot and I gave up on the customer support.

Never had a crash, but I don't use my tomtom one 3rd edition very much. paid like $150 for about a year ago. this is a hot deal. not so hot if refurbed though.
