I have checked around and could not find an answer.

If I join Team SETI will the wu's I have already done be credited to the team?

Yes they will be credited to the TeAm and will be very welcome. For purposes of the Race they will however not count. Only WUs produced after you join the TeAm and after tomorrow will count.

Glad to have you aboard! :D

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask :)

Yes, they will go to whatever Team you join. Despite the fact that the SETI@Home website STILL says they stay with whatever Team you produced them for, they never implemented that policy. The logistics were a bit much, I gather. ;)

OK, I will figure out how to join, and that will put an extra 685 or so to the total.

Thanks

That is how I started. I had heard about SETI@Home frequently, and then finally decided to try it on my own. I ran the GUI version (the one with the coloured graphs) for some time, then when I joined Team AnandTech I started running the CLI version, which is much faster. I was actually a member of AnandTech Forums before I started crunching SETI@Home, but I had never paid any attention to the Distributed Computing Forum. Then I stepped in. :D

Well, that is a real bummer! In order to transfer my credits to the team I need my password (of which I have no idea) and I no longer have the same e-mail account, so I can't get my password. Anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to write off 6000+ hours of cpu time.

:(

I believe you can e-mail the SETI@Home people and they will help you out. I seem to recall another member having the same problem. Perhaps start a new Thread about this specific subject sometime tomorrow, when everyone is home and recovered from their New Year's celebrations. :)

From the S@H Website FAQ:

I'm trying to access my account, but I've lost my password. The e-mail address I used when registering is invalid. Is there any way for you to give me access to my account?

In order to protect your account from modification by others, we require both your e-mail address and password for access. If you lose this information, we unfortunately cannot help you access your account or your credits. You will need to create a new account with a valid e-mail address to access any future credit.

I am not sure if anyone else has any ideas. Who was your old email account with?

Well, give it a try anyway. I could swear the people at SETI@Home helped someone out that had lost their e-mail in such a manner.
