Just like to let all know that I joined the seti team, and I will be putting all machines within my grasp into the processing group. So far it's only a 3.2 ghz machine w/ 1gb pc3200 ddr, but soon I will add my quad, my two 1.0 ghz machines, and 3 2.0+ ghz machines. Also some lame 450s etc, nothing major in that scope. Hope you all enjoy.

Hello popa and welcome to TeAm AnandTech - SETI! 😀

Make sure you use the CLI CLIENT, see my sig-line for instructions if you need them. 😉

Also, if that 3.2 is HT make sure you put a check-mark in the SET PROCESSOR AFFINITY box. That way it can do 2 Work Units at a time. Mine is putting out 16 WUs @ day.

We really appreciate you answering the call and helping us out. 😀

yeah im using the cli, and so you know it isnt an HT. im an amd guy 🙂 by 3.2 i meant 3.2 rating, it's a 3200+ oc'ed to 2.6

Without some tweeking windows is faster than *nix.
In all of my cases. It seams to take about 20 minutes longer usint the same hardware.
Infact I have a dual 2.8 xeon with HT only doing 11 a day under Gentoo. When I had windows on that box it was doing 19 a day.

I had to put that box in production so I cant really tweek on it.

All most forgot!!! WELCOME TO THE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Running the native linux client is slower then the windows CLI version, but i believe the fastest combination was running the windows CLI under linux using WINE? 🙂

Welcome to the TeAm popasan and glad to see you posting! 😀

Nice additions you have there...very nice indeed! 😀

mmmmmmk well so far ive got:

3.2 running cli

2.5 running gui(cant help it)
2.5 running gui(cant help it)
2.0 running gui(cant help it)

750Mhz running cli

tomorrows goals
1ghz running gui
2.6 running gui

Welcome! to Team Anandtech! 😀

And I don't know if things have changed with the faster CPUs and hyperthreading, but at one time running the windows CLI under WINE in Linux was the fastest processing of all. 🙂

If you have equal sized sticks of ddr ram on your mobo in separate slots and your mobo supports
dual channel(AMD's sudo HT), you could possibly change the number of processes to 2 in SetiDriver and get
a little more production out of the boxen. I do it with my XP 2600+(oc'd to 2.54) and get 2 extra
WU's outa that box.

Just FYI.

Ok, so it's running half the time on one of the 2.5ghz laptops cause if it runs all the time it overheats the laptop 😀 But I now have it running on a dual p3 at work. Off to find a few more PCs.

Make sure you get permission to run it on work PCs!!!

Don't need you getting in trouble or even losing your job over SETI!
