Also that link looks suspiciously like a referral link.

Here's a clean one: http://www.gevalia.com/gevalia/index.jsp

IMO for the price you can do MUCH better as far as coffee goes. Support your local roasters.
The free coffeemakers are generally a pretty nice bonus, however. (Protip: Cancel after you get your free goods)

If you do get the awesome coffee maker don't make the mistake I did and not cancel the day you get it in. I thought I cancelled on their website but I guess I didn't just got $30 worth of coffee I didn't want today. I called and canceled they were really nice about it and are sending a shipping label for me to return it. Their coffee makers are really nice though, I got the carafe.

Sorry. A friend actually passed this along to me and it sounded decent. I didn't know most of you liked dog'n people for a simple mistake.

Well, if you should decide to stay around here longer, you will find that a large percentage of posts by newbies in the Hot Deals section are self-promotions. That said, I did a whois on Gevalia.com and found that's its owned by Kraft Foods! Unless you are the CEO of Kraft Foods, I say "Welcome to AnandTech!", and I hoist a cup of the finest Albertson's coffee in your honor!

Please don't buy from Gevalia. They are spammers and they hire spammers to spam for them. The refuse to do anything about the spammers they pay to get business for them. Most of these spammers are using hijacked computers of cable and DSL users they hacked into and thus are criminals.

Please do not help support these criminals.

Every morning I'm still enjoying the Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee maker they gave me for 29.99 along with a couple pounds of their overpriced coffee. That thing was pushing $200 everywhere at the time. One of the very first Hot Deals I got in on. Thanks AT and thanks Gevalia. I did let them sell me one shipment of over-priced coffee before cancelling, overcome by pity I suppose. Whatta deal that was.

Don't know if TheBigCheese is right but I just signed up for a Gevalia promotion offer and started receiving a bunch of Gevalia coffee offers from third-parties.

Ordered one on Dec 27, received e-mail on Jan 6 said, "your shippment is almost ready". There must be big demand, worth waiting I guess.

Not only that but if you ask Gevalia to stop emailing you, you will start receiving these "offers". I used a newly created address in my request to them and they sent back a n email confirming that I was off their list (despite the fact that address was never on their list!) but a few days later, I received (allegedly fron third parties) a Gevalia offer (and several others) at that address. Gevalia was the only palce I ever used the address.

Strange!!!

Jan 2-5 is that enough proof for you?

I do not buy products from spammers, and the sad thing is I do LOVE their coffee, it's QUITE good, but due to this crap I won't buy it or have it in the house.

I'm guessing those are spam with referral links? If so I don't find that a big deal since they are not gevalia.

Gevalia coffee in general is some of the best coffee I've ever tasted. A while ago I signed up for this at the office I was working at - we got a great coffeemaker and everyone loved their brew. Its very smooth (like kona, not that good tho) and not very bitter.

The drawback is they are expensive.

Personally I find it a joke that someone wouldn't buy their product because they get spam with their name on it. It is no different than other companies that flood you with junkmail and try to brand their image on you everywhere you turn. Welcome to america.

I would be interested in this offer, any idea what the offer number is? I couldn't seem to locate it on there site (or over at FW)
Thanks!

Interestingly enough, yesterday I got my introductory package w/the coffee maker from them. I really lucked out - I guess they ran out of the 8 cup makers, so they sent me a really nice 12 cup programmable coffee maker instead., much nicer in my opinion than the 8 cup carafe.

I signed up on their site on December 23rd.

It's their referrals and they stand by and allow it, therefore I don't buy it. If someone has referrals who spam and they remove those pests from their referral program then I can deal with that, haven't seen such actions from Gevalia therefore they won't see any of my money, I'll buy something else that DOESN'T end up in my inbox in spam. Millstone (which I also like OK) has never been spotted in my spam folder so before I'll spend a dime on someone who does end up in spam, I'll spend my dimes with a company that doesn't. Heck even THIS thread was started with what appears to be a referral link...

I can't vouch for their spam or marketing practices, but a coworker has Gevalia that he brings into work. This happens to be the chocolate raspberry flavor. It's actually very good coffee.

You want me to post their email responses here? I don't think people will like me to post the dozens of email claiming my complaint had a virus (it was a plain text email with no attachments), that their email server was broken, that they would stop the affiliate from spamming (they didn't), etc.???

If you don't believe me, just do a Google Groups search using Gevalia spam google search

363 examples of Gevalia spams!!!

Spam? I receive Gevalia offers only once evrey 2 week or so... secondly, it is not deceptive... which more or less defines spam for me. if i wanted to rid the gevalia "spam" ill just add a gevalia keyword filter and its gone from my inbox.

i got in on the deal for 9.99, with a free coffee maker and 2 samples of coffee. great deal, if you ask me. a while ago they offered an even nicer looking programmable 12-cup coffee maker along with 2 free mugs... seems terrific to me. tastes good, too
