We should not boycott CA because it doesn't enforce the law, we only boycott states that enforce the law of the government.

In Arizona a cop could follow you until you did anything even remotely illegal (like changing lanes within 100 feet of an intersection, or something else most people don't really think about) and demand to see proof of citizenship. In California, that wouldn't fly. The potential for harassment with the Arizona law is much greater as a result.

So then wouldnt it be ok for arizona to have that law as long as they didnt enforce it like that? As far as ive heard nothing even remotly like this has happened. It only matters what you do, not what you say your going to do.

That hardly seems like splitting hairs or arguing semantics to me. Arresting someone is different than not arresting them, obviously, so the requirement to perform the check is clearly not the same.

So, in your opinion, they can already legally harass people? The only difference is that they can now look for one more crime during the course of the already legal harassment like following you until you make some obscure traffic violation and then pull you over and tear your car apart looking for drugs and money or even just to write a ticket. Some places go so far as flat out highway robbery with their abuse of forfeiture laws.

I guess my point is, why are you so against them being able to investigate if you have committed one more crime when under the circumstances they can harass normal law abiding citizens much worse already?
