Johnny Cash died today at 71. He was a poor sharecropper's son from Kingsland, Arkansas, who sang to himself while picking cotton in the fields -- then later sang to millions through recordings, concerts and his late-'60s TV variety show.

John Ritter died today at 54. Actor and comedian John Ritter, who gained stardom in the sitcom "Three's Company," died of heart failure Thursday night after collapsing on the set of his current TV series. He was 54.

Wow, so sad. :( Is it just me, or has their been a long string of celebrity deaths lately?

Yeah, it does seem like there have been a lot of celebrity deaths recently. Ritter's so young! How can he die?

I had no idea Cash was so old, but he was good. Never listened to him really, but there were 2 of his songs I knew and knew well, and they really were great.

RIP Cash, you will be missed, and thought of fondly.

On a side note, Raymond Burr died 10 years ago today.

I never liked much of cash's music nor ritter's acting but their talents were very respectable. Ritters death is quite a shock at 54, must have been horrible to see a coworker collapse like that on the set and then die.
