I have respect for them, but - at least to me - it feels and looks like their timing is pretty bad. The FPS genre is currently (and has been for years) over saturated on all platforms (well, except mobile I suppose). Trying "something new", or trying to "go back to the roots like we used to do it ourselves" will not convince most players (except the 'hardcore fans' of their original work, or the 'niche' of players who will always love anything as long as it's made in first-person view).
There's big and small(er) names right now already preparing their own FPS games. We'll have Overwatch soon. And there's also that game coming out in a few weeks that just so happens to be called DOOM (just saying). Then we have Battleborn. We might also see some actual footage (or at least read about some new information) concerning the next Borderlands at this year's E3. Then next year we're supposed to get Strafe (homage to 1990's shooters, and it does look rather fun). We also have current access to, with a community-wide effort to develop the new Unreal Tournament (of all things and names, that one is sort of a big deal for a "come back" after all those years since UT3). And for those who want to stay within the 'old school' setting, you can always just hop on Quake Live, or play the countless FPSes of old(er) years (Painkiller, Hard Reset, Serious Sam 3, etc). And there's still very fun and 'viable' ones like Borderlands 2, RAGE (the shooting is fine, I just don't like the driving sections), and of course, the obvious Team Fortress 2. I could keep going at it, there's never going to be a shortage of FPS games to play (be it for online play, 'old school' action, or single-player campaigns).
Now, I really don't have a problem at all with them trying something on their own. But I think that their timing is bad, and gamers' and FPS lovers' attention is being taken elsewhere. I DO wish them the best of luck, and I might keep an eye on their project. In about two years from now maybe they'll have something playable as a demo, or something along the lines, and maybe it'll even be fun. We'll see how it goes I guess. But I just don't see it happening (I.E. yeah, it might be 'completed' but I have this gut feeling that it's just going to flop so hard that it will ensure it's going to be their last venture in the gaming industry, forever) but I do want to be proven very wrong on this part (there's a side of me who really wants to see an 'older generation' developer coming back to shut everyone up and prove everyone that the kind of FPS he wants to make can still be very fun and become a financial success too).
