John McCain admits we invaded Iraq for oil

This was all over cable news today.

McCain is making this too easy for the Dems.

The sad thing is they might loose still. They are doing a pretty dang good job destroying themselves.

Nah; Hillary is pulling every GOP trick in the book to sink Obama and none of it sticks long enough to pull him out of the lead.

She's running McCain's November playbook 6 months before he planned to use it.

It's possible he meant the first Gulf War. He should have been more clear on that when first making the statement though.

I thought it was good when politicians told the truth?

It is, unless you try to cover your ass. If McCain holds to that position he gains some respect from me. But if he goes back and tries to change the context to fit the gulf war (ass covering) then it shows hes the typical politician.

Well there you have it, John McCain and Alan Greenspan both have said we are there for Oil.

Anyone that thinks we are in Iraq other then oil is a fool!!!

I've been saying this for years.... Were only there because of the resources... We don't care about Iraq...... They had nothing to do with 911... We are there for the oil...

All the stories of why we are there supposedly helping the people is just bullshit feel good stories to buy into the illusion that we are pumping oil out of the ground as fast as we can while we are there. Soon as were done there maybe we'll be at war with Iran....

The real sad part is... Most people still believe the BS that is fed to them... They are incapable of thinking for themselves....

But, what I want to know is... If McCain wants to be there for next 100 years... Is that to secure the resources?

I disagree. Cable news is still obsessed with Rev. Wright and other non-issues. Even MSNBC had to run a one hour special last night recapping the Rev. Wright situation.

And don't get me started on Fox. After they got over their baby-fit/mini-rebellion when it became apparent McCain would be the nominee, they have gotten behind him 100+%. Just the other night I was watching them and they had a town meeting where the camera would go from "citizen" to "citizen" while each recited a major accomplishment of McCain while he has been in the Senate. I swear, an Oreck infommercial is more newsworthy than that was.

What is necessary is for the Dems to stop their fighting and focus on McCain. It's going to take a lot of beating down and repeating of his bad points (Keating Five ethics scandal, abysmal ecomonics understand and ability, "bomb bomb Iran" cowboy mentality (like we need a clown like that again), blindsided clinging to continuing combat in Iran instead of taking on terrorism, etc. Without doing this, and laying a proper foundation, a sudden push in late October could put McCain in the White House.

Unfortunately, it all boils down to whether Hillary Clinton's ego can be contained. She should have done a Mitt Romney months ago.

Of course it was for Oil. Why where I live we now have so much oil the stations are giving a free gallon of gas to anyone that purchases one. And the price is at an all time low.

The McCain administration has it's sights set on the next invasion, of Iowa! We will do it for the Ethanol!

Isn't this obvious to everyone? Did people actually believe that we went there for WMDs and terrorism? Remember, the other name for this war was Operation $0.99 Oil.

QFT

I'm saddened that he later "corrected" himself too. Guess a little honesty in the face of blatant fact is too much to expect from todays politicians.

Didn't we all know this already?

I don't have a problem with it. I still look forward to voting for him.
