Uggg... Don't get me wrong, the guy can put out a catchy tune from time to time. But I can't even express how many more original, avant-garde singer-songwriters there are right now. Compared to his peers, John Mayer's music is trite, nonevolving, and an easy unchallenged listening. Why don't we have any threads on someone like Joanna Newsom, who just composed one of the best chamber pop albums of the year and is currently on tour. Or maybe other singer-songwriters like Devendra Banhart, Sufjan Stevens, Cat Power, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Destroyer and Beiruit have put forth fascinating works of art within the past year.

Tickets for Bob Seger in Memphis also go on sale tomorrow morning. I am more interested in those. Just too bad, I don't feel I can turn loose of the $65.00.
