I find the public distaste of him hilarious. Here's why:

1. He's probably one of the most talented blues guitarists in the last 20 years, yet people care more about who he's dating than his music.

2. The things he says/does are TAME compared to what the blues artists of the past did. Hell, they were sleeping with 14 year olds, beating women, even killing people, but the public microscope of celebrities didn't exist back then for mass judgement.

3. He has record producers telling him what kind of songs he has to play---which leads to the poppy crap he has to spit out in order to sell his material.

I like him more and more as i hear you fucktards at ATOT bitch about him. must of you are all gay for metal, anyway, so I know the average musical taste here is already screwed.

I don't really listen to Mayer, heard a few of his things. Alright, I guess. I hear his shows are freaking amazing though.

I used to hate on him for the sake of hating on him,but I got drunk one night and bought "Where the Light is", his live CD. After listening to it thoroughly, I am now a fan... even went to see him in concert over the Summer, which as you would guess... probably about 75% hot chicks, no lie.

His music is good, and a lot of his best songs never even saw radio play.

as to the second point, it's 'cause he's a white man selling black man's music to white people. hell, just look at what the average rapper is up to in their personal life, the public flack they get, and compare to Mayer.
