I'm not too surprised at his win (they tend to like him), but I really though Alicia would win with Kanye being the fan favorite, but Grammy voter underdog.

I remember him playing little coffee houses here in town before he "made it" and he sucked then too.

i didn't like that song, but JM is actually pretty good when he plays songs other than his own. 😛 He recently did some blues shows in NY and LA and they were outstanding.

I think anyone who can actually play an instrument and write songs is a shoo-in for the Grammy's these days... Keys, Norah Jones, Mayer... it doesn't take much to win when your competition is cookie cutter rockers like hoobaskank and no-talent rappers/vocalists who contributed 0 (besides the vocal tracks) to the song.
