JOURNEY To Perform At SUPER BOWL XLIII Pre-Game Show - Jan. 28, 2009

American rock sensation JOURNEY will help kick off Super Bowl XLIII as part of the pre-game festivities adjacent to Raymond James Stadium during the Super Bowl XLIII celebration in Tampa Bay on Sunday, February 1 at 5:30 p.m. EST. JOHN LEGEND will also appear.

More than 148 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's Super Bowl, the most-watched television program in history. The pre-game show and Super Bowl XLIII will be broadcast worldwide to more than 230 countries and territories.

JOURNEY ? Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums) and Arnel Pineda (vocals) ? earned platinum honors in 2008 for the band's latest album, "Revelation", marking JOURNEY's 11th platinum album certification to date.

Sweet. Now people can't complain when I randomly burst into "Don't Stop Believing" during halftime, as I tend to do during pretty much all sporting events.

Yeah, but Journey isn't the same Journey without Steve Perry. They have a tribute band singer leading the group now.

A tribute band singer who's freaking awesome.

The fans will expect them to sing that song, but I wish they would sing What It Takes To Win, from their new album.

QFT. Out of his own lips he admitted there will only be one Steve Perry. He isn't trying to be Steve Perry. He just happens to sound like him, which helps the band keep the legacy sound they are known for. He brings his own talent and in the new songs you can hear that he is more than a Perry emulator.

Their latest album went platinum, so there are enough people who still like them. 🙂

Jonathan Cain said Revelation is their best selling album in 20 years.

Steve Perry or bust!

He was given every opportunity to come back, but didn't so he essentially turned his back on his fans and went into seclusion with his bloated ego and wallet. The rest of the band still wanted to work. You can't blame the band for this. And they didn't even have to stoop to the fair circuit for success last summer. 😉

I understand, but the spirit lives on. To be honest, Steve Perry doesn't have what it takes to be Steve Perry anymore, that's why he went off stage.

All good things eventually come to an end. I believe Steve just celebrated his 60th birthday. Those would be some old pipes for this type of gig.

Supposedly SP has a new album coming out but it's rumored that some of it is re-releasing previous hits with some unreleased previous recordings. If that's true, there will be no new vocals.

A singer in a smokey room...the smell of wine and cheap perfume

Saw Journey in concert during the summer and he sounds EXACTLY the same. I'm excited !!!

I might be headed to Manila in March for their concert there. Wife is going for sure, but it depends on if I can get time off.

I know how the Superbowl will end now. Arizona will be down by 2 with 5 seconds left with the ball on the Pittsburgh 20 yard line. The teams will line up, you'll hear the snap, then the screen will just go black...

Nice, haha.

Oh well, still had a good run with them.

That had to have been a nice job to have! 🙂

Those people who say Journey is not Journey without Steve Perry do not understand that Steve Perry was NOT an original member of the band. He did not come along until later. The band is the sum of all the individual parts, Neal Schon (original band member - kick ass guitarist) Ross Valory (original band member - the bass foundation of Journey forever) Jonathan Cain (keyboards, piano and vocals - cowriter of the songs from their best days) Deen Castronovo (Bad English drummer - moved into position as Journey regrouped) Arnel Pineda- Arguably the best lead singer the band has had since Steve Perry left the band in 1986. Granted there are some biggots out there who can't accept that Journey hired a little brown guy from a foreign contry.

What? Yes, Steve Perry had gone his own direction in 1986 after Raised on Radio. The 1996 Album titled Trial By Fire was a reunion album and was supposed to be the kickoff of a tour, but SP injured himself hiking in Hawaii and needed hip replacement surgery. He put it off long enough that Journey needed to find another frontman, which they did in Steve Augeri. (Tall Stories) Steve Augeri had a throat condition and had to leave the band in 1996. Jeff Scott Soto stepped in as the new lead singer, but after a few short months, was fired.

With Arnel Pineda at the helm, the band is as right as it's been in 22 years and poised for great success in the coming years. The band looks energetic and like they are having fun again. 🙂

Searched but does anyone know of any live streams that will be happening tomorrow? I'm gonna be at work and will have to depend on my computer if I want to see any of this. 🙁
