You guys know who John Edwards is right? That guy who "talks" to the dead. What do you all think about him? If it is fake how do you think he gets that information? If you think he is for real why do you think that?

There's a number of ways he could screen those people...still, that doesn't rule out the possibility that he's for real

I'd vote for undecided if I could

It is either real, a gigantic scam, or maybe he just hypnotyses (sp?) everybody before the show.

Likely it's fake. He starts with generalities and gets somebody to react and then probes them with possibilities, but it's still pretty interesting and amazing if it is fake.

So if it's real and he is actually psychic is some way most of us don't understand, then the next question is what is his psychic sensitivity. Does he hear the dead, or does he read memories.

It's not real. He is using a technique called cold reading.

Well, whether fake or not, he puts on a good show.

Probably fake though.

He's totally fake. I actually had someone explain how he did it to me before. Lots of people can do it. You're basically getting the person to tell you exactly what you want to hear.

C'mon people... on a message board with this many computer users I think the term "social engineering" might ring a few bells ;)

ThaGrandCow, when you say "social engineering," you mean "psychology" right? If I'm mistaken, please correct me.

Well you could say that too, they both could be used in the same context here.

Fake. If you analyze some of his shows, he fishes for answers along with playing with generalities. e.g. "I see someone in your past.. an 'M'." Then the subject says "Mary" or "Mitchell", then Edwards says "They were very close to you, weren't they??????????" (emphasis on the question mark)

I have no idea but Will Ferrell did a perfect impression of him on a SNL skit recently. Basically it was probably the guy's worst nitemare. Everything he was coming up with was wrong. LOL!!!
