My girlfriend's father is a big JD fan although he owns equipment from a number of companies based on the budget he had when he needed it.

Regardless, when talking to a lot of "farming" folk, they tend to be very brand loyal like truck owners (many of the same people), console people, and video card people. So just because that is what they like in no way signifies that it is the best hardware for the money.
