I think Julian Sands would be a good Constantine. He's got the attitude, just give him a trenchcoat, a cigarette, and some facial hair and he'd have it down. :|

Sigh, If I were a british fan I'd be pretty pissed.

Keanu is ALL WRONG for the role. He's not dirty, tired, beat, etc. and he's never been able to pull off that he was. Even covered in grime he still looks like he just stepped out of the shower. He's no member of the trenchcoat brigade.

I think part of Constantine's appeal was the Britishness. Bollocks, wanker, sod, bloody, and all the bloody tea he drank helped _make_ him Constantine. :|

Julian Sands isn't particularly dirty, but I think he could pull it off. Too bad it isn't a "B" movie, if it was they might have been able to get him. 😛

Hellblazer was one of my favorite books.

Who casted "surfer-dude" as John Constantine?
 
Sting would be the perfect choice (although he's a little old for it now, heh), but that's obvious. 😉

I plan to avoid this film, though. Keanu... meh.
 
I'm still going to see it. I have to, Hellblazer is turning out to be a kick ass series (almost done with the second TPB). I'm praying that Preacher, Transmet, and Sandman never make it to California...

I've got all the Preachers (actually I think a friend has my copies :|), most of the Transmet TPBs, and most of the Sandmans. I couldn't wait for the last TPB of Transmetropolitan, so I searched for the individual comics. I'd love to have a run of Sandman or the complete Transmet, but they're hard to find/expensive.

I actually bid against a friend on ebay for my preacher run. :evil:
 
I haven't read any Hellblazer, but I'm currently about 80% of the way through Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run (which introduced Constantine).

I wish Hollywood would stick to stuff that's easy to adapt and that special effects can save -- Spidey 1 and 2 weren't all that successful if you take them strictly as adaptations, but they made entertaining and fun movies to watch.

I do have a complete run of Sandman, don't bother, just get the TP's... why spend the money. I want to be Dave McKean when I grow up (looks at watch, see's it's almost thrity, sighs). I reccomend this TP as well. Oh.. and his cages series is also quite good.

The only role he's been able to pull off was his role in 'Point Break' and even that was a stretch.

I just like to have them. The holy trinity of Comics for me are preacher, transmet, and sandman. I want them all. :TheCollector;
 
I think Pierce Brosnan *may* have made an interesting Constantine, he obviously has better acting ability than Reeves
 
i just started reading Sandman, its pretty good.
Preacher is really gritty and pretty decent as well.

FYI, I know a whole bunch of these TPB just got reprinted.

Those are two of my favorite series. I turned a couple of friends onto preacher, and my girlfriend on to sandman. 😎

Read Transmetropolitan, if you haven't already.
 
You guys are forgetting Lucifer! I'm up to the 5th tp and it still kicks ass.

What was the first hellblazer tp? I feel like picking up a new series.

The hellblazer TPBs are organized wierd. There isn't a 1-10, 11-20, etc. They seem to grab random parts of the series and throw them in a book. The first one is something like Original Sins, but check the back of the book. The order should be in there. And if Lucifer is Vertigo (I haven't read it yet), it might have Hellblazer listed in the back too.
