It was still moving. They only ate the tail, then the rest of the lobster went back to be cooked for the 2nd part of the meal.

Most asian food just looks downright disgusting, I don't know how people eat it.

Except for my local China. mmmm

Lobsters, at least North Atlantic lobsters, are bottom feeders. Now I love lobsters, boiled for 20 minutes in salt(ed) water.

And to preempt the "ZOMG, THAT'S SO CRUEL, KILL THEM" replies, lobsters are basically insects. (yes, I know they are actually crustaceans)

The seafood is really fresh here. I've seen segments of eel and fish wriggling around after just being butchered at the fish markets.

Why would anyone think it's cruel? Many animals eat their food while its still alive.

How is this any elaborate?

How is this any diff than me buying one from supermarket, kill it then just eat it raw rather than paying 5x more for it?

I guess you've never heard of this organization called PETA or just any woman in history.

Shit man, you ever been to a farm? My great grandmother would be the one to wring the chicken's neck for dinner. Guys aren't the only ones that have gotten soft these days.

damn I couldn't imagine being eaten alive. That would suck.
Also, I hate seafood, so I can't say raw or even live seafood is tasty. Might be, not for me though.

Did I say me or anyone on these boards??? I said PETA which are the ones which would be in a uproar.

The idea is that as sentient beings we have a moral responsibility to prevent unnecessary suffering of animals at our hands. A lion, for example, is just acting on instinct when it hunts and violently kills its prey, but we are more than just animals in that we have the ability to empathize with animals and the intelligence to survive without harming them.

Not a philosophy I subscribe to (at least not to the extreme that the PETA nuts do), just trying to explain the logic behind it.

I missed a contraction there.

It's in an extravagant restaurant in an exotic location?

You just really have to grow up with those kinds of weird food to like them. I want my food to not be moving when I'm eating it.

I had spiny lobster sashimi in Taiwan about 18 months ago. I still have the video of the antenna moving around while we were eating the bottom part that was cut up on a bed of ice. It's not cheap!

That's not traditional Asian food. What you eat in restaurants are made to cater to Western folk.

Traditional Asian food is awesome. I do get the same remark you said however about Filipino food. Some of it is kind of weird like Dinaguan.

I honestly don't know about lobster sashimi, but dishes 2 and 3 look delicious. 1200RMB isn't that bad of a price either, translates to about $150USD, probably a bit more nowadays
