More proof that the Vietnam War completely fvcked up this country:

<< I will never give the government the benefit of the doubt. Thats what they want.
And I HIGHLY disagree that they will retract ANY legislation passed.

It seems most of it is to just get their foot in the door on monitoring all of our communications. And that will NEVER stop, mark my words.

The one thing I find most disturbing, is our nations inability to recall historical precedence.

The actions being taken today are a hell of a lot less intrusive than those taken by our government during WWII, and nearly all those legislative actions were withdrawn after the war was over.

As I said, if they begin to abuse these special powers, I will complain. But for now I'll accept them as a TEMPORARY measure to curb internal and external terrorism.

Sammy, you know I'm a libertarian, and hate ANY intrusive government legislation. I have one exception to that: During war time, when our country has come under attack.

I hope you die SammySon. The world will be a better place without idiots like you in it.

Ashcroft is a nutcase. I think the only thing he dislikes about Taliban is that they are Muslim. I bet he wouldn't mind making a puritan Christian state right here in the USA.
Anyways, any extremists in power is a dangerous thing, Ashcroft included.
He is not above stretching and bending the constitution.

Honestly, I'm kinda mad that no one has seen fit to shoot him. He has to have pissed some of the crazies off enough.

Who elected that pr!ck anyways? Oops. He was put in place by the real d!ckehad, we elected. Hell, might as well just nuke Washington. Get rid of a lot of thsoe stup!d motherf!ckers.

Honestly, I'm a pacifist. Big time pacifist. But I don't know what to do about people like Ashcroft. Lobotomy?

He bothers me because regarding security issues he seems to want to error on the side of government not individuals. But at least he's doing his job. I agree he's very aggressive. In some of his speeches I'm surprised he doesn't try to reinstate prohibition.

You're a moron. :|

And if there were a massive terrorist attack tomorrow, I bet that a lot of you Ashcroft-bashers would say that he didn't do enough to protect us. :disgust:

I see a lot of Ashcroft is evil, ashcroft did this, did that, in this thread. What has he done? Specifically? I mean he was in front of a committee last week, they all asked him questions and I didn't hear any of them say " John you can't do this, can't do that". So is the whole Congress screwed up? Now don't get me wrong I haven't personally made up my mind about the guy, the Patriots Act and a few other things but it does get tiresome to hear people bash things when it's obvious all they are doing is repeating a headline. If you're gonna b!tch, be specific. Back it up with a link to a news story or the text of a law or a transcript of a hearing. When all you do is repeat a headline you look like a moron.

Just ask anyone that was living in Missouri while he was govenor. He signed an anti-abortion law on the steps
of His own church. Kinda brings new meaning to seperation of church and state doesn't it?
