Mermaidman - I don't have a kinkajou, but I do have a white-nosed coatimundi named Nik. You can see pics of him here, here, and here

Heh, I've thought about a coatimundi too, it seems more practical than a lemur. But I'd really love to have a ring-tail lemur.

I don't recommend a coatimundi as a pet...you've got to have some experience with raccoons and you've got to learn to deal with being bitten...hard. Nik is a really cool little guy, but he's a handful. My dad and I can handle him and he likes us, but he will attack my mom and sister (he knows they don't like him).

I think ferrets reek. Would I think the same thing about sugar gliders? Do they smell as bad?

If you were to get females or a neutered male (supposedly less odor than females) then I don't think so. It's a different smell than ferrets.

I wanted one and went to my local pet shop to check them out. They looked so cute in the cage, then I saw their food bowl. It was a bowl full of live squirming meal worms!!!
That wigged me out so bad I don't want one any more. I can bear to watch them eat freakin' worms much less fill their bowl for them. NASTY!:disgust:

Hm... when we fed mealworms to our frog, they weren't live. I dunno if they have to be for sugar gliders or not; we just bought a little styrofoam container from the pet store to feed to them.

Those suckers in the bowl were definitely alive and squirming.
