Joel Osteen’s Megachurch Just Handed Out Collection Plates To Flood Evacuees Asking For Donations.

In a video from a Saturday service at Lakewood Church, his sister Lisa Osteen Comes asks for the Hurricane Harvey survivors to stand up so that people could “touch” and “lay hands” on them. Before she does that though, she sends the ushers into the auditorium to start passing around collection plates. As they do, she throws out false words of comfort and carefully avoids ever telling these poor people that the church would help them. Instead, she keeps saying that God will.

This is exactly the kind of Hurricane relief Texas deplorables deserve.

You can bet that every last idiot that entered that church was a deplorable too.

Thank Joel, keep stealing their money!

You deserve it just as much as they do!

Joel is worth millions. Why the need to ask for donations? It just makes him look bad. I'm not jealous of his success. I just think that since he's in a great position that he shouldn't be asking for donations.

How does Joel make his money? Take your time in answering.

Grifting is all he knows. He was actually being charitable when he refused to take in hurricane victims.

Those who can give, give. Those who dont, dont. Those who can give but don't....welp....must be atheists.

Joel has been rather tacky lately.

It's as I thought. He didn't want all these desperate people messing up his nice clean church, and now that he's been shamed into acting like the benevolent, caring pastor he tries to sell himself as, people need to break him off some to offset his inconvienence.

That carpet steamer ain't going to rent itself folks, look what you hicks did to my bathrooms! This place needs to be spotless so I can lift another $600,000 off the community at my next service damnit!

Lives have been shattered, sounds like a good time for them to make a love offering. Utter toolbags, him and his ditzy wife.

It's funny how a mattress salesman (Mattress Mack) and a guy who plays defense on the Texans (J.J. Watt) are far more compassionate and Christian than some tax-dodging, piece of shit, televangelist.

I see this guy on the same level as Trump when it comes to how they both lie and deceive in order to gather to themselves a following that progressively infects others with their passion infused blind faith and gullibility.

That Osteen exploits an amalgam of emotions and religion as bait on a hook to enrich himself is just that much more despicable.

But hey, who am I to suggest that false prophets shouldn't make a living by taking advantage of the opportunities that living in a capitalist driven democracy provides just as it does for the rest of us?

If just by coincidence selling one way tickets to eternal life in the afterlife makes a nice hefty tax exempt(?) profit for the guy who has all the right talents and charisma, then the rule of buyer beware being invoked should do just nicely given how unregulated this for profit industry of converting fools into the faithful is, right?

I had to go to one of these mega church events. I was recording crowds for a film. It was at angels stadium. All of those people knew KNEW they would live forever. They would never use the word death. "when so and so passed on" and such. People will pay anything to live forever. What they fail to realize is they have been doing the nonexistence thing for an eternity already and after this short blink they will be right back where they started. So much better to do something real with the amazingly lucky short life we get then to dream it all away thinking you will get this forever.

As someone who thinks religion is nothing more than opiate for the masses and Joel Osteen is the spittle spit spits on I don't see why I would give to their like.

He kind of reminds me of Petyr Baelish.

Similar faces, similar use of lies, although Joel doesn't own a whorehouse I suppose (to the best of my knowledge).

Oh they into the prosperity gospel. Give me money and god will give you money. Lol.
Good God. I'm a Roman Catholic and this is just twisted Christianity (Not that the Princes our our church and the mansions some have isn't twisted as well).
The ecclesiastic community needs to lead by the example of humility. They don't have to be poor (unless they are in an order) but come on!

This is yet another reason Pope Francis rocks, lives in a Vatican guest house :)
