But also signs he’d be willing to run as 3rd party as No Labels candidate.

He was not going to win against Justice.

Let's see if he actually tries to fuck up Biden's re-elect. Meanwhile Trump is out there saying point blank that he will prosecute his political opponents.

There is an uncomfortably large chance that the next election dooms the country as we know it.

Uh, he wasn't gonna win against Gov. Hogg anyway. That seat was already gone. This is somewhat about his vanity in not even chancing a loss.

His approval is shit and the only donors he'd successfully court will be conservatives. So good luck with that I guess.

As crappy as Joe Manchin has been for the Democrats...it's freaking West Virginia. Look at some of the Congress critters from FL, TN and a lot of other places...hell look at this abject creep Mike Johnson.

Good fuck him. He couldn’t be counted on for anything important, he has flirted with a 3rd party run. May as well have an R there because at minimum that puts responsibility in Republican’s hands.
Fuck Manchin, fuck him.
I will never tire of saying Fuck Manchin. He cannot be trusted.

This plus Sherrod Brown's seat almost certainly going red in Ohio will deliver the senate to the GOP next year.

Lo-fucking-l

People have been saying that for like the last 2-3 cycles. Who is his opponent again? Not that it matters ...

Sherrod Brown's opponent?

Not sure who it will be but it's Ohio. It will be similar to JD Vance vs Ryan.

This is why every single downballot race is going to matter so much. Turnout has to be huge for the Dems. Huge. You need candidates from the top that will drive turnout to insane levels in states where there are any tight races downballot. You have to win the House and Senate.

Dems just need to keep running adds with videos of Trump claiming he is totally responsible for Roe v Wade being shot down.

Irrelevant. Ryan wasn't a 3 term incumbent like Brown.

Brown won in '18 by 7pts. He's a unique case of a D that is safe in a red state. Same as Tester really.

It's more likely that someone like Cruz loses on the other side than Brown TBH.

Respectfully disagree. 2018 was an eternity ago and still fresh off the initial Trump backlash/first midterm. Ohio has only trended more red since then.

And you've got Trump back on the ballot, along with all the still present Dobbs impact. Added in is the Ohio GOP now pushing to ignore the vote from Tuesday and push ahead with their abortion banning laws.

I'm telling you, you're wrong. And given your hilariously incorrect prognostications so far, I'm fairly certain your bed-wetting here will be more of the same.

It's a good thing Manchin was a nominal Dem in the last few years, but his legacy for me will be his absolutely horrible votes on Supreme Court nominees. He voted to confirm Trump nominees Kavanaugh and Gorsuch (both poster boys for what is wrong with the present Supreme Court) and was in fact the critical vote that got Kavanaugh on the bench. He also voted for more lower court Trump nominees than any other Dem.

He's also the SOLE reason we still have the filibuster rule in the Senate today.

He barely won his last time around (by 3%) and by all counts was facing an extremely difficult uphill battle this time around.

Overall though, I think accommodating Manchin has greatly reduced the effectiveness of the Dem party and President Biden's administration.
