It already did - but, it will recover when investors realize it was planned and prepared for. Mr. Cook will carry on.

I think apple is going to be the next RIM, they are going to keep cranking out the same devices, 1 a year for every category. But then iOS has very little changes on each iteration.
People are growing tired of BB for the same reason. Apple is going to lose ground sooner than later, it will all come down to the apps available, however with the growth of android, apples market share will slowly shrink.
Steve Job is the man, come down when he is still on top :).

This may be true in some over seas company, but I highly doubt Jobs is the one who was the sole person who came up with all the ideas. He was the face, no doubt. I'm sure they have a creative development team, and it was under his leadership that things went the way they did.

The problem with your statement is that you neglect Apple's trendy following.

Price dropped, but not as much as I would have guessed.

I expected it AAPL to drop a ton today. Looks like it hasnt dropped at all.

DJIA down 1.4%, AAPL down 1.7%. I would actually consider that following the market. Hardly the drop I was expecting. This is really surprising.

That being said, I hardly see apple in a dire position. In 5 - 10 years maybe, but I doubt anything drastic or game changing will happen to the company over the next 5 years.

There's a guy on Yahoo finance Apple message board that keeps flipping nailing Apple's stock price.

His prediction today:

We will be $450 Dec 31 2011 and $600 by Dec 31 2012.

Steve stepping down as CEO wont have much of an impact on apple, Steve dying will have a huge impact on apple as there is no other like him.

pretty much agree, but as long as they can keep workaholics that can bang out decent ideas theyll have a hard time going downhill. i like some of what apple does, but not necessarily the way they do it, which causes me to avoid their products

im an android guy, but i dont think google is run by saints, i just have a stronger dislike for how apple does things, and so much of what i have and want to do works with android and google services that theres no way in hell id want an iphone. id be tempted to get a wp7 device if microsoft doesnt half-ass it, so its something ill keep an eye on

Love him or hate him... every technology CEO want to be secretly in his shoes...he mastered the art of turning gadgets that were the hobbies of us geeks into a perceived must need fashion/product that hundreds of millions of general consumers "have to get." We all wish our jobs consist of playing with new gadgets/innovations and have hundreds of millions of fans following/listening to us...

I have been anti apple since I became more techy - but I wish to be like Steve Jobs today... if anything he expanded the tech market and brought out the geekness in all of us...
