alright so a friend finds a flyer and its about a job.
security guard jobs for schools, hospitals, etc.

says $8/h & up.

looks interesting so I give it a call.
a descent voiced secretary picks up the phone and tells me ill receive a call.
they call the afternoon thoe im not there.

when i get back call the id'd # and busy tone.

and so today i decide calling the original # from the flyer again and explaining i wasnt available when they called me yesterday.

she transfer me to a rough voiced jamaican like male, he explains to me the kind of jobs and ends up stating a $75 fee for the certification.

i supposely have to attend a 3pm EST interview with this guy, called Mr. Ford.
EDIT: i rescheduled for tomorrow, and said some professional excuse of an unexpected change of plans. That gives me till 10am tomorrow to figure out if this is a scam or not, hELP

what you guys think.... i just quited my job and now umemployed so i might give this a shot unless it smells like a scam.

The interviewer also mentioned the salary to me of paying 8/h up to 15/h.

If they ask for any type of a fee (no matter what they call it) to get you a job... it is a scam.

You'd be much better off walking down to your nearest Starbucks and apply there-- starting pay is around $8.00 and benefits are good.

They want $75

A job is where they pay you.

Run away, run away......

well see what they tell you about the certification, and find out where you might be working. security for schools/hospitals isnt a joke, and im sure there is some certification required....

he might as well get state certified on his own and then find a job. I got screwed with a place like this once, then had the BBB get involved.

I'm pretty confident that this is scam. Unless the certification is some kind of thing that's recognized everywhere, then they're taking you for a ride. $75 isn't much, but when they're only spending 2-3 hours hooking you in.....

With your grammar, you'll probably be working this type of job forever haha.

So are they asking you for the $75, or are they saying you'll need to go somewhere, pay $5 for some sort of training, then you can get the job?

Either way, I agree with the above posters. They should be paying your training costs.

I thought it, but had the class not to post it. That makes me better than you. Haha.

I did security guard work for a while. I had to pay for my own guard card, forget how much it was though.

If the company doesn't expect you to pay the $$ directly to them it's prolly ok. Just make sure it's going to a government agency, preferably from your hand to the agency's.
