Any one live in Hawaii or have experience with the job market out there? I'm thinking about relocation in the next year or so and it's a place I would love to consider...

I'm a programmer/graphic artist with some decent experience, primarily web and interactive media.

I've no idea, but I wish you the uttermost luck over there if you do move there. At least it's a nice area ;)

Something tells me Hawaii isn't really a hotbed of IT related jobs. But if you switch to a tourism related job, you might find something. Plus, I bet it's expensive as hell to live there.

The job market has been big news here the past couple of weeks. I believe we currently have the lowest unemployment rate in the nation and there is a great abundance of jobs. I don't know, however, if they are the kind of jobs you'd be interested in. And yes, the cost of living is very high.

Unemployment here is "low" because many people have more than one job (seriously) in order to afford the high cost of living. There are a lot of defense jobs here, but you will find the market glutted as far as new media and many programming/tech jobs outside of defense.
That said, you might want to come visit for a few weeks and shop around.

More cons:
-highest state tax in nation + compounded sales tax
-the most hideous, termite-infested shack ~ 800 sq/ft in a crime-ridden neighborhood will cost at least 350k. Anything bearable will start at 500k and probably won't have a full bathtub
-you *might* find it culturally (not politically) conservative
-high property crime, even in nice areas

Pros:
-some of the best looking women in the nation (and men of course)
-don't need to heat your home during the winter
-people tend to be healthier and live longer than in many parts of the U.S.
-despite stereotypes is very IT-oriented, being early adopters in many technologies long before most of the U.S. (e.g. cell phones common a decade earler than most places, high and -early broadband penetration, Hi-Tech facilities such as the Maui Supercomputer, etc.)
