Job Interview this weekend

I have a job interview this weekend, and I am also going on vacation at the same time in the same city -- so it works out.

Question is: Can I deduct my train trip next year on taxes since part of the trip was a job interview?

Yes, as a business expense. My friends do this all the time when they fly someplace for business and extend their trip for personal reasons. You can deduct the rental car too for the number of days you were there for business.

Travel costs to get to the interview will get placed on Form 2106.
You will need to use the Schedule A though.

Costs for you to get to the train, parking/tolls fees and rental at the destination are also deductible.

Meal costs using the GSA Per Diem schedule also can be taken into account.
