yah, i think i walk in with some khakis, polo shirt, brown belt and brown shoes. hell, i'de wear that on a casual day anyways 😛
 
I got the same message when in interviewed for my current job. Went in business casual and all is good two years later. 😀
 
i always go interview with a suit. if they say informal i might do away with the tie and wear a non-white shirt to "blend in" the environment, but that's the least formal i am willing to do.

I never said that informal dress WAS a jacket and tie. I said for an interview you should always wear them. Nobody is "right" or "wrong" on the matter. You can go in a moomoo if you wanted. But assuming you actually want the job a jacket and would be a safe bet.

I would go business casual because the recruiter specifically stated informal dress. If you show up with a jacket and tie, all you're demonstrating is that you can't follow directions.
 
I'd consider "informal dress" to be jeans and t-shirts... but even if recommended to, I wouldn't wear that to an interview.

all technical positions in my company have an informal dress code (which basically means no sweat pants, shorts, or sandals, but even that's not really enforced outside of the data center, where wearing shorts or open-toed shoes is potentially dangerous)... I knew this before interviewing, but I still came in for the interview wearing a button-down shirt, khakis, and shoes.
