That's the answer I normally use but I saw an article in the San Diego Tribune a few months ago talking about all the usual job questions. It had this one but I lost it:(

Some people very much value honesty.

I don't ask stupid questions like this when I'm looking to hire someone. I ask them questions pertaining to the job I wish them to do, their previous experience, and their schooling.

Heard it on Bob and Tom.

Guy was talking about how halfway through the interview he realized he didnt want the job so he started to answer the questions weirdly.

Q. What is your worst habit?

A. Physically attacking people who ask too many personal questions.

don't safe the usual like I work too hard or too long or I'm a perfectionist. Depending on the job, something like delagation might work. Say "I have trouble delegating a task to another person, because its always in the back of my mind that I could do a better job or that they might not do it correctly."

Hahaha. For sure. Now I want to interview for some random job just so I can do that.

I think most of these weakness-that-aren't-weaknesses answers are BS and the interviewer knows it immediately. The interviewer has heard it from the last 5 guys before you. And the moment you say your weakness is "being a perfectionist" or "working too hard", they have to call into question whether your other answers were also BS.

Best answer in my book: Tell them an actual weakness, but follow with how you're going about correcting that weakness. When I interviewed for my current position (in IT), I answered "databases" but followed it with how I'm currently enrolled in 2 databases courses, etc. etc. The interviewer actually said, "I appreciate your honesty."

Interestingly enough, I told my gf about this and she answered it EXACTLY like I did: "databases". The interviewer responded that it's not a big deal and databases are easy to pick up. She got the job (at a HUGE tech firm) where she's running reports that query databases everyday. Go figure.

Tell them that's the stupidest most cliche question you've ever heard. It's an idiotic question. Nobody answers it honestly, everyone answers it in a way that makes them look better.

I was asked "what is your two biggest weaknesses" and I answered them honestly.

1.) I don't allow myself much sleep. When asked why not I told them its because I have too much to do in the day, and I enjoy the intensity of always having a full schedule and keeping up with it. (none of that was a lie).
2.) I am forgetful, My attention to detail is lacking. I have overcome this weakness a lot recently by keeping a exact list of what I need to look at and marking them off.

I usually say my biggest weakness is a toss up between my penchant for stealing office supplies and my tendency towards shirking responsibility. If they don't laugh then I don't want to work for them, lol.

The trick is to turn something positive and make it a "weakness" when in actuality it's a strength...

example: extreme detail in work...pride in job well done.

Sleep deprivation can lead to memory loss.

Yep, it does. My first meal today was 4:00, and I ate it standing, walking from meeting room to meeting room. I just got home from work (8:30) and am eating dinner now. :)

Best way to answer that question is to tell a weakness you once had and how you overcame it and how it's not a problem for you anymore. :)

WOMAN

What do you see as your main strengths?

SPUD

I love people. All people. Even people that no one else loves, I
think they're OK, you know. Like Beggars.

WOMAN

Homeless people?

SPUD

No, not homeless people. Beggars, Francis Begbie -- one of my
mates. I wouldn't say my best mate, I mean, sometimes the boy
goes over the score, like one time when we -- me and him -- were
having a laugh and all of a sudden he's ****** gubbed me in the
face, right --

---------

WOMAN

Mr. Murphy, {leaving your friend aside,} do you see yourself as
having any weaknesses?

SPUD

No. Well, yes. I have to admit it: I'm a perfectionist. For me,
it's the best or nothing at all. If things go badly, I can't be
bothered, but I have a good feeling about this interview. Seems
to me like it's gone pretty well. We've touched on a lot of
subjects, a lot of things to think about, for all of us.
