Job for a cripple?

So I recently had to remove myself from the job market because of MAJOR hip surgery (along the lines of hip replacement). Recovery has gone well, and I can walk again. I can't lift heavy objects, and I can't move around too much. I applied for a job at a computer shop, but I don't think it's going to happen (and something more social would be nice). I'm thinking along the lines of a part time summer job that would be hip-friendly for me. Does anyone have ideas for jobs I should be looking for?

EDIT: As far as qualifications and educations are concerned, I'm A+ certified, and a few other little certs that i completed the courses for. I changed my mind from computers to the hospitality industry. I'm servsafe certified, and I've done some college in Culinary Arts and Hospitality management.

EDIT 2: And yes, I'm starting school again now that I can walk, had to take a semester off for recovery.

The national "Do Not Call" list and our present "don't call it a recession" make this a poorer choice than before.

Almost any kind of cubicle job should be fine, I would imagine. Get a job where you use your brain and your technical skills, rather than physical activity/coordination.

Electrical engineer, software engineer, or computer engineer; take your pick.

I wish there was a job in which one with limited mobility could lay on their back. Hmmm.

..although you probably won't pass the physical.

Any idea where to get started on looking for the qualifications needed for those type of jobs?

What's your education level? Any specialized training?

I worked heavy construction for over 30 years, got hurt, and am now retraining in accounting/bookkeeping.

Boomer hold your head up.... if you get in the right small firm you could have a lot in common with the owner. My wife works for a guy that worked concrete to get through school and is an avid hunter. Number crunching draws all types because it is good money now and in the future in the states.

What's your work and educational background? I mean, I'm sure there's something out there, but narrow it down w/ your qualifications and go from there.

My obvious choice would be teaching, college level if possible. Without experience, you'd probably be able to teach as an adjunct at community college to start.

Those qualifications should give you lots of opportunities. Why can't you continue in the hospitality trade if that's what you like? The fiell should offer lots of variety and career advancement, from desk clerk to consierge, to one of the hotel/food service managers.
Your computer background may put you in a good position for IT with one of the many chains as well.

Where are you located? A NOC job may work out well for you if you happen to be in the market area.

20/cents per answered question, and they do pay. It's something you can do in your spare time till you find something, in the evenings even once you find something, etc. It's at your own schedule and pace.

Actually, here's one, if its doable for you: Student. If you can do it financially, working part time and such, why not pick up where you left off towards your degree? You could take classes a few nights a week at the closest community college. The upside of that is you get to pick what to study and what field you work in when you finish. That is, if you don't like doing the things you're already qualified to do.
