Job at EB

Has anyone here ever worked at Electronic Boutique? Is gamecrazy better? Anyone know how much the employee discounts are and how much one is likely to start out at?

What other game-related jobs would be recommended?

I'm in college. My dad offered me to work at his office this summer, but I don't think I want to do that.

You'll probably get paid more at your dad's office. I used to work for Gamestop a while ago in college and if I were you, I'd take the office job. EB games is good if you want to spend all your money buying games though.

I worked in EB once, long ago. I was just a sales associate, but one day I saw some punk piece of shit kid try to pocket a pack of Magic Cards. I grabbed him by his arm and threw him across the store into the Playstation kiosk. His arm was dislocated and his head was bleeding from the impact. I walked up to him to beat his head into the ground but he got up and started running for the door. Quickly, I picked up the deck of Magic Cards, tore it open and began flinging cards like ninja stars. Two pierced the base of his skull, and a third sliced his heart in two. My co workers were just standing there stunned. I knew I was going to get fired, so I emptied the register, took a few games, and left.

Okay, thanks for the replies.

I think I might work for my dad, but does anyone know/have an idea as to how much EBgames pays? Also, is the employee discount more than 15%? I do plan on spending 1/2 my money on things at EBgames.

I would be very very surprised if they paid more than $9 or so an hour. I'd imagine the discount is around 15%

Even if EB paid $15 an hour and had a 75% discount I'd still take an $8 office internship. Esp since you're lucky enough to have a Dad that can help you out like this.

I'm surprised you're even considering EB.

At EB you'll probably be doing $7.15. or whatever minimum waige is these days. The office job may pay a bit more, and there will be less running around and less face to face interaction with customers.

Just because you are selling games does not mean you'll get to play them, or even get discounts. Don't get a job just for the discount it offers.

At 1st I was excited that someone was working for the Easter Bunny == fail.

Ok, my son worked there & did get either discounts or over nighters/weekenders for games. This was a couple/few years ago & maybe changed.

"Go where you can get the most $$$$$!!!! Or, will give you the most physical exercise", said in my most fatherly tone.

Retail jobs in my experience rarely turn out as you think they will. Some weeks you don't get the hours you hoped for, or you get stuck with a series of Saturday night closing shifts, or you have to deal with terrible management.

It's been five years since I worked retail, and perhaps things have changed, but I choose the office job every time. If the office job isn't an option, look into something outdoors for the summer - working at a beach, landscaping, etc..
