Quick summary: Am moving, looking for new jobs. Have received an offer from previous employer, which I enjoyed working for; salary is comparable to what I'm getting now, commute is probably between 45-60 mins, back country roads.
Had an interview with another place, it went well, am waiting for an offer, but according to recruiter an offer should be pending - that was one week ago. Pay could be slightly more than what I'm getting now, commute would be 25-30 mins highway. It's a bigger company, so possibly more stable, though during the interview (!!) they mentioned that they *have* had layoffs previously.
Another recruiter has set up a phone interview for another company, don't know much about it, sounds like a small dev firm. Commute would also be 25-30 mins highway, salary would probably be similar to slightly above where I am now.
Previous employer is asking how things are - I received the offer a week ago, how long can I stall before giving an answer? I'd at least like to hear an offer from the other company, and the phone interview isn't until end of next week :-/.

So my wife has taken a new job about an hour and a half away from where we are living right now, and we will be moving there come January. I began looking for new jobs in that area for the last couple months now.
First, I've been working with Recruiter A during this time, and a week ago he set me up with an interview, and I think it went very well. It's a decent sized company that makes a software product, and I'd be working on a medium sized development team. They seemed to be nice, if not a bit corporate. I got a good feeling from them, and Recruiter A talked with their people and they said I would be a good fit as well. However, they told Recruiter A they wanted to take a week or so and finish going through their other candidates, but they both have made it sound like an offer should be forthcoming.
That same day, I actually received a concrete offer from my previous employer (prior to where I am now). I left Previous Employer because I was moving (for my then-fiance), and where I am now offered a lot more money. But we've kept in touch, I've done some contracting work, and I did enjoy both the people I worked with and the atmosphere. It's a very small company, incredibly laid back, friendly, like a family. I would become the primary developer of their new web application, along with the president/founder, who is the other developer. When I left they posed the question "what would it take to get you back", to which I said if they could come close to my current salary, I'd consider it. To wit, they offered me more than what I started out at my current place, just slightly less than I am getting now after a yearly raise. However, this job would be probably about a 20-30 minute drive further than my other prospects, though it does also offer the possibilities of working remotely some days.
My third option is through Recruiter B, who has ignored me up until the past week (I talked with her a couple of times a couple months ago, and hadn't heard from her since). She has set me up with a phone interview for late next week with a development firm near where I'm moving. This is a small company, but I don't know how laid back it is, or much about working there.
So my dillemmas are this: Both recruiter jobs would be about 20-25 minute drives for me, plus could potentially offer some more learning opportunities and to be a part of a bigger company. But nothing is certain yet with either of those. Going back to my old place, there'd be a smaller learning curve (as I know mostly how the business works, how the app development is, etc.), and I'd pretty much be in charge and up to myself to learn new things. They're not offering a bad salary by any means, but it's probably the bottom level of what I'd like to accept. But I think there's room for growth, too. But it's also a longer daily commute as well.
Anway, that's sort of my current situation. I asked Previous Employer for a few more days to think about things end of last week, and let Recruiter A know whats up so he could push for some sort of answer from his prospect. But Previous Employer just wrote another email asking what I thought of his offer, and I feel like I'm stringing him along. How long is customary to make a decision? Any other advice? Thanks!
